Memories of the Goddess (Prologue 3) **Rework**

[Evil Goddess System Successfully Bound]

'Where am I? What was I doing?'

With that thought, my consciousness gradually returns.

'Ugh, my body hurts.'

Opening my eyes and pushing myself off the ground. I see an unfamiliar sight, in front of me are two delicate little hands. Subconsciously I lift the hands to take a closer look.

"Whose hands are these? Are they mine?"

Where once a deep masculine voice existed instead came a high and enchanting sound with a hint of childishness.

'Was that my voice just now?'

To better understand what is going on, I concentrate my attention on the polished floor and focus on the reflection. Although not entirely clear, I can still make out the details.

In the reflection, I see an adorable little girl. She looks to be around fifteen years old, with hair as white as freshly fallen snow. The skin of her face is pale but without even the smallest blemish. Her nose is small and cute, while her cherry lips seem to be perfectly carved by a master sculptor.

However, the most notable thing about her is not these things but her eyes and ears. Her eyes are the color of blood, and they seem almost to glow. Her ears are long and sharp, but it blends beautifully with the girl's other features.

Watching the unfamiliar girl mimic my actions, I move the little hands to touch my ears.

'Pointy...'

With a sudden realization, I reach into the baggy pants. I slowly move the hands down to the once familiar area.

'It's....it's gone.'

In confusion, I subconsciously open my mouth, revealing two sharp fangs.

For some reason, I don't feel panicked about my current situation; on the contrary, I feel a sense of...is it joy? This doesn't make any sense why would I have this feeling?

In a state of utter loss, I start thinking through the events that took place prior.

Suddenly my head feels like it's about to split in half. Like the time before, memories, thoughts, information, and emotions again fill my mind — this time, I resist the urge to lose consciousness.

I grip my head in pain and watch as a hologram-like image appears in front of me. The image displays a ball of light and a woman that seems to be doing something to the light ball. The woman is incredibly beautiful; she has pale white skin, long white hair, beautiful blood-red eyes, and a perfect figure...

I glance at my reflection once again, '...She looks like an older version of me?'

Suddenly the woman begins to speak, "There! Try to talk."

[Hello, Creator. Is my voice now satisfactory?]

"It's perfect; you sound just like me! Now she'll be able to hear my voice even if I'm...", the woman stops speaking abruptly.

[...Creator.]

The woman slowly returns to reality, "...hmm? Is something wrong?"

[No...but...Creator, do you have to go?]

"Of course, I have to go. I'm Callista, their Goddess of Blood I have a responsibility to keep and so do you!"

[I know. I understand.]

"Good, it'll be your job to guide her...and make sure she takes good care of herself...and...and make sure she dresses nice....and make sure she drinks fresh blood. It's important, you know? Fresh blood for a young blood race is important to their development!"

[Yes, Creator. I know.]

"And...tell her I'm sorry."

Callista turns looks in my direction, and with a gentle smile, she stares at me.

"Tell her I'm sorry for placing such a heavy burden on her. The journey will be long and hard...and I'm sure it'll be lonely at times. I know she will have to do things that many will criticize her for, but I also know that she's just doing the best she can for her people to have a future..."

[Yes, Creator I'll make sure she knows.]

"Okay, and oh, I almost forgot to tell you what your name will be. Since some of the races have taken up the habit of calling me the "Evil Goddess," I thought it was only right if you were known as the "Evil Goddess System". Callista laughs loudly.

[...]

The images fade, and everything around me begins to twist. Suddenly I hear voices, screams, and yelling.

**Bang**

My vision becomes clear; I find myself in the middle of a field. The sky is tinted red, and a large red moon blocks the sun.

"Stand up! Fight! Look to the sky! The Mother Goddess is with us always!"

""""For the Goddess of Blood!"""" thousands of voices ring out in unison.

I look to my left as an army begins to come into existence. With the new information flooding my mind, I can recognize the dozens of different species; they are collectively known as...

"...the blood race," I whisper.

"Wipeout the diseased parasites and spit on the idols of their false evil goddess!"

Suddenly a new voice enters my ears, and another army materializes to my right. I recognize them immediately as the collective forces of the God of Heaven and the War God Cyril.

"For the one True God in Heaven!" a Heavenly Angel yells.

"For the glory of the War God!" a Mountain Orc shouts.

Unable to move from my sitting position, I watch as the two sides begin charging toward one another with me being in the middle. Just as they're about to slam into one another, the image twists once again.

**Bang**

My vision changes and the battle has progressed to a climax. I look around at the chaos all around me, but something catches my attention. I notice stones raining down from the sky, I look up to witness a giant stone Gargoyle being ripped apart by dozens of golden Griffins. Eventually, the Gargoyle is no longer able to continue functioning and falls toward the ground rapidly.

"Watch the skies! Watch the skies!" I hear them yell.

But it's too late; the Gargoyle falls into the middle of the blood race's ranks. My heart hurts as I listen to their screams as they're crushed by their own creation. A massive plume of dust is propelled into the air by the fallen Gargoyle obscuring the majority of the battlefield.

Through the dust, in the corner of my vision, I see the shadow of a Giant smack a Red Hulder sending the blood race girl flying. The girl lands nearby, obviously crippled and unable to move.

Over the noise of the battlefield, I can hear a man yell, "Eira, no! You bastard get away from her!"

The man that looks to be a blood race Scarlet Elf swings his spear at the Giant to draw his attention away from the girl. The Hulder girl stares in the man's direction...

"...I'm sorry. I guess I won't be coming home, after all.", she whispers.

Hearing someone walking nearby, I turn my head and find the shadow of a human man slowly approaching the girl.

"Wait! No, stop!" I yell.

My efforts do nothing as the Human approaches her with a look of disgust.

"Evil monsters, for the God in Heaven!" I hear him yell as he slams his mace into the side of the girl's head.

"....no. No!", the blood race man yells.

In a rage, he launches his spear at the human man piercing his chest. The human man's eyes grow big as he vomits blood and collapses to the ground. Now without a weapon, the Giant swings its club down on the blood race man causing him to be crushed under the club.

Before I can fully process the events in front of me, a noise so loud that the world itself shakes comes across the battlefield. Everyone turns their attention toward the sky. Every person watches in amazement as the red moon begins to crack and collapses in on itself. Red rain like blood begins pouring from the sky as a massive wave of energy emanates from the collapsing moon.

"No, impossible! The Goddess of Blood can't fall!"

"Mother Goddess, no!"

The blood race soldiers stare at the sight they never believed was possible. However, some of them seem to notice the waves of energy are coming closer and closer.

"...Retreat! Everyone retreat!"

Both armies run as fast as they can as the waves of energy vaporize everything in its path. Unable to move, I can only watch as the waves overtake me.

I find myself back on the platform, shaking in sorrow and rage. I slam my fist into the floor in an effort to calm myself down. The visions and memories end here, and this is the point the system should have started keeping up with the changes in the world.

"...System, are you there? Can you tell me what happened after Callista fell?"

[Yes, host.]

For a long time, the system and I talk about what happened after the memories ended. The War God Cyril supposedly fell with Callista while the God of Heaven is believed to have been heavily injured. The angels of Heaven continued the campaign against the blood race leading to their accepted extinction. Hearing this, I felt massive amounts of hatred once again bubble up from the depths of my soul.

A few centuries after Callista fell, the God of Heaven and his angels locked themselves away in Heaven. Shortly after, the mana and magical creatures of the world vanished. Everything from the tiny horned rabbit to the mighty dragon disappeared along with all signs of their existence. The system seems to think the magical creatures were sealed, and the Earth was separated from the cosmic mana stream. The system does not know what could cause something like this.

With little residual mana left, the system found it unsuitable to continue trying to implement Callista's plan. Thus the system decided to blend into the cosmic mana stream and managed to maintain a tenuous connection between it and the Earth. Thousands of years went by; humanity rapidly multiplied and spread across the Earth.

Hardly any movement came from Heaven until seven thousand years ago. It seems the God of Heaven's closest aid Lucifer and a handful of other angels, rebelled. It appears they were eventually expelled from Heaven, starting their own faction in the Hell dimension. Since that time, Heaven and Hell have been in a stalemate with neither side making any significant movements.

Finally, half a year ago, the system detected that mana levels on Earth started increasing for the first time in thousands of years. With the rising mana levels, the system began to try and fulfill its purpose, searching for Callista's heir. Eventually, the system found and chose me due to my high compatibility with Callista's soul fragment as well as my unusual talent. According to the system, to get me here, it had to use my talent as a roundabout way to do it due to certain limitations.

'Talent? So much has happened. I forgot to ask for more information on it.'

"System, what exactly is my talent?"

[The host's talent <paranormal> allows the host to use mental strength as well as the public consciousness to inspire paranormal events.]

"I don't quite understand what you mean."

[The system asks the host to explore and experiment with this more on your own.]

"How would I go about doing that?"

[It is recommenced the host starts by checking the status menu.]

"Status menu? I only vaguely remember that through the inheritance. Is that a function of the system?"

[Checking your status is something all creatures can do; however, it requires a connection to the cosmic mana stream. The Earth has not re-established contact with the mana stream, but this system can help the host establish a connection.]

Hearing the system, I feel a wave of anticipation.

In my mind, I shout the word "Status!"

Immediately a transparent window appears.

Aren't these numbers a little low? Also...

"Why is there no name?"

[When the host merged with the 'Ancient Goddess Soul Fragment,' the host was no longer recognized as the individual "Robert Adams."]

Glancing down, I look at the two bulges on my chest as well as my petite and dainty figure.

'Well, I definitely don't look like that person anymore.'

Closing my eyes, I begin to think about all the emotions, memories, and visions I've witnessed. I can feel hatred toward the God of Heaven, grief for the lost blood race, an immense desire for power, and finally an enormous sense of happiness. The opportunity to rectify the past fills me with endless delight.

'Are these the feelings of the person I once was? No, I would say not. I need a more appropriate name, one that can better represent my new identity.'

Thinking quietly, I sit for a long time to process everything that's happened and to calm myself. Finally, I couldn't help but smile a little.

With a small voice, I whisper, "That will be my name."

"My name is Eira Callista."
