403. The Fake Orphanage

[For those who still haven't realized which world this is. It is called Promised Neverland.]

Emma and Norman looked at each other's faces. Seemingly asking each other what they should do now.

*POP*

*pop...pop...pop*

"G-Chan, we're hungry." one by one, the tailed beasts appeared.

This shocked the kids a lot. Alexander had to do something now, "All right, kids. I am not a normal man, I am a god. You will see weird things happening around me but they will never hurt you. These small ones are Chakra beings. Potatoes, introduce yourselves."

"Hehe... I am LUCKY SEVEN CHOMEI"

"Shukaku here,"

"Huh, Kurama,"

One by one the tailed beasts jumped and told their names as if introducing their superhero name.

"GOD? That is just a being constructed to control the masses, there is no god." Norman argued.

"Haha, I used to think the same when I was like you, oh, how wrong I was. Son, you can think whatever you want but can a normal human do the things I just did? You ask yourself, observe me, and decide. Now, Come, let's eat something. These little fellas love Ramen, you should try some too." He invited them.

He waved his hand and a nice carpet and a bonfire appeared. The tailed beasts quickly took their seats. "Okay, today we are eating your favorite, Miso Ramen with fish cake, boiled eggs, and lots of meat."

"Yayyy... Ramen... Ramen... Ramen," The beasts started chanting.

Emma and Norman were extremely confused. But they simply took seats alongside the beasts and each received a bowl of ramen.

They looked at it intently for a while but then the aroma reached their noses. Emma was the first to and quickly started eating.

"If he was bad he would have already eaten us," she told Norman.

Norman nodded and also started eating.

"Will you all be staying with me or going back in?" Alexander asked the beasts.

Only Chomei, Shukaku, and Kurama wanted to stay and the rest wanted to return to Phixheim and play with countless beings there or just sleep. They really liked living in Phixheim as it was filled with various kinds of soothing energies.

After a while of eating and talking all the remaining tailed beasts left, leaving Alexander to do his job. Alexander decided to ask the kids about the world but then he noticed something.

"Son, why are there numbers tattooed on your neck? I don't think orphanages are supposed to do that." He asked.

Norman puts his hand on his neck, "This is the number to identify us."

"Hmm, strange. Can you tell me about this world?" He asked.

"We don't know anything. We have never been out of this place. We only get adopted when the time comes." Norman answered.

Alexander sensed the hesitation in his voice. "Hmm, why though? If this is an orphanage you should be allowed to see the world outside."

"We can't, we can never go out. We are just food for them." Emma blurted. Norman tried to hold her mouth as he suspected Alexander might be like their caretaker, Isabella, only putting on a good face.

"What's the point of hiding? I don't think he is bad. Look at him," Emma pointed to Alexander's face.

Alexander, Dobby, and the three beasts gave a big smile to them. Then Alexander asked them.

"What do you mean by food for them? Who?"

Norman sighed and started explaining, taking a leap of faith, "We don't know. They look like monsters, they are certainly not humans. We have been able to figure out the pattern of how kids are chosen to be taken away. We go through tests to judge our IQ here and all those with the lowest marks are the first to be sent away."

Emma started with a crying face, "They tell us that someone wants to adopt us. But in reality, they harvest us for food. We saw it with our own eyes, Connie's body. She was killed by those demons."

Alexander went closer to them and caressed their heads, "Don't cry. I will correct everything now. I will destroy all these demons, I promise."

Alexander looked around himself. He was already sure that whichever world he was in, it was was not a normal earth. These kids were being harvested like it was a slaughterhouse.

"Dobby, call Ragnarok out too, I'm sure he will also like burning these Demons," Alexander said.

Dobby nodded and went to Phixheim.

"What were you two doing here at such late?" He softly asked.

"We were looking for a way to run away. We have been planning for a while now but crossing this wall seems impossible." Norman responded.

"Well, if you want to see what's beyond this place, I'll show you." He told them. He held them close to himself and flew into the air.

It spooked the two children a lot but they held themselves. He brought them above the wall and finally looked at what was beyond.

"Well, even if you were to somehow climb, there was still this ravine." He said while looking down.

Norman and Emma were shaken, realizing that even if they had claimed it, they wouldn't have been able to cross to the other side. Running away was impossible.

*Poof*

"Where are the demons? I'll burn them all, bring them to me," Ragnarok appeared all ready to fight.

"Easy there, Raggy. We will go where these children are staying, they surely have a warden there who is colluding with the demons. Let's start the purge after learning what we are dealing with." He decided.

"Ah, I hate this phase of your work. Okay, I will wait, Shukaku, come, let's play chess." He decided and sat down.

Alexander let him be and looked at the two kids, "So, will you take me to your orphanage?"

The two nodded, No man who could fly be normal. And this one had said he was a god. Even the intellectual Norman was starting to believe a little and a small glimmer of hope appeared in his mind.

But then Norman remembered something, "Oh no, we've been out too long. We were supposed to return. She will know we're here."

"It's all right, nothing to worry about, what can she even do?" He said and again brought them down from the wall. Ragnarok was going to wait there while Dobby came with him.

"Come, sit on my shoulders. Your little feet won't be able to match our speed." He jokingly said and put them on his shoulders.

"Which way?" He asked.

"That," Emma pointed in a direction.

"Okay, now enjoy it," he said and started running very fast.

Emma and Norman held him tight. Emma was even enjoying it as she threw her arms in the air.

Soon they came out of the jungle to the open field. In the distance, a big wooden house was standing tall.

"Let's walk now, here, grab my fingers," he offered his hand. The two were visibly scared at the moment but holding his hand comforted them. Alexander also used his power to ease their minds.

They started walking to the building. Soon they saw many shouts coming, calling for Emma and Norman.

"It seems they are trying to find you, how many other kids know about all this fake orphanage?" Alexander asked.

"Only me, Emma and Ray" Norman answered, keeping a plain face.

"EMMAAAA!!!..." A small boy came running and hugged her.

"We were lost in the jungle, Phil, don't worry now," Emma ruffled his hair.

"Yes yes, don't cry, child. Here, try this candy. It's sweet and sour." Alexander handed him a handful of small candies.

Phil confusedly looked at him and took them, "Who are you?"

"I am grandpa, just call me that." Alexander warmly said, releasing his godly aura to give everyone a nice feeling about him.

"Hehe... thank you, grandpa," Phil smiled widely.

Alexander then raised his head and looked at the only adult around. The kind-looking woman but a monster in hiding.

The woman was also looking at him, scared and confused. Not wanting to make the children worried, Alexander made the woman fall unconscious.

"MAMA!" The kids worriedly ran up to her.

"Ah, step aside, little ones, I will pick her up." He offered.

"Norman, show me her room, I will take her there," he said.

Norman understood his intention and led the way. Alexander picked her up and reassured the children. "Don't worry kids, I am a doctor, I will take care of her. Meanwhile, uncle Dobby here will give you lots of tasty treats. Follow him to the dining area."

Dobby being the most loved creature, attracted the attention of the kids and led them into the hall.

The only ones left behind were Emma and Ray. Ray went to Emma and asked in whispers, "What is going on? Who are these two?"

"Gods, they are gods, Ray. We are saved now," she excitedly said.

"What are you saying? Did you fall on your head or something?" Ray angrily asked.

"Believe me, Ray. Just come with me and see for yourself." Emma dragged him inside.
