Mona wagged her tail and jumped into the tunnel. I followed her in. The tune was stronger now. Someone was singing.
Through a long day, My hearts seems to know it all
Time goes by so quickly, it will be forgotten
I stood there, listening to the song. The voice. It was low but smooth like... honey. It wasn't the best voice, but something about it was magical.
Everything seems to be in the right place, except this hole is for you
My heart breaks coz I can't seem to send you away
I wanted to go closer to the voice. But I was afraid that if I went closer, the magic would be gone. As if the voice would disappear and I wouldn't find it again. I silently walked a little closer and took a peek.
I saw him. The person with the voice. He was sitting on the tunnel floor, holding a guitar. His eyes were closed, lost in his own world with his music. He didn't notice me and I hoped he never would. I felt like I would malign something pure and innocent if I interrupted him. I slowly backed up.
'I can see you,' he said wearily. I stopped my tracks.
'You can?' I whispered. I immediately bowed down. 'I'm sorry angry ahjusshi! I didn't mean to disturb you. Nor was I going to your house. I was just playing with Mona.'
Angry ahjusshi opened his eyes and stared at me.
'What are you doing here?' he asked. 'I was talking to Mona.'
The dog was sitting beside him. Under the trance of his voice, I completely forgot Mona was there with him.
'How long were you there?' he asked, alarmed. 'How much did you hear?'
'A few lines,' I admitted. 'I won't tell anyone. I swear!'
Angry ahjusshi looked at me suspiciously.
'Fine,' he said coolly. 'I believe you.'
'You do?' I asked, astonished. He never believed me before.
'Don't give me that look,' he snapped.
'You don't usually trust people,' I pointed out. 'It's natural for me to be suspicious.'
'I don't trust you but I'll have to take your word for it. Now go home. I'm busy.'
I stood there.
'What? Why are you still here?' angry ahjusshi asked. 'Go home.'
'Ahjusshi,' I asked meekly. 'Can I borrow Mona?'
'Why?' he frowned.
'My babysitter left me alone again,' I said. 'Can Mona stay with me till my babysitter returns? Or till my mother comes?'
'WHAT?' he shrieked. I jumped.
