FORTUNE FAVOUR THE BOLD

The principal character in the book, "Fortune favors the bold", is a polygamous, heartless African man, although socially respected and perceived as cursed as a result of an unexpected bad turn on events. The protagonist, Asweda, faces severe physical injuries while looking for a mid-wife to assist his wife to deliver. He becomes an embarrassment to society when his wife gives birth to a male child who turns out to be a product of infidelity. He struggles to cover up the shame and, in the process, breaks the laid down society norms, an act which angered the ancestors, marking the onset and manifestation of a curse in his life. His family is very affected by drought, hunger and famine. He struggles to sire a male child. Asweda, being a romantic man, marries up to four wives, one of whom comes out to be a night runner and a magician. On a migration mission, Asweda losses all his wealth to thieves, his gardener is killed, and his child becomes critically sick. He heartlessly butchered one of the thieves on a defense mission. Asweda makes a hard decision to bury his gardener in a strange foreign bush land and later haunts him and demands to be buried in ancestral land. Asweda ignores the cleansing ceremony which comes along with serious consequences. The now poor African man plots rustling exercise in an attempt to gain wealth, killing an 'Oromo' man, in the process running away with a large, s number of cattle. The Oromo men attacked him on a revenge mission, chopping off his leg and throwing him in a cave where he spent quite some time eating rats for survival. The African polygamous man later reunites with the family only to find all his wives already inherited. He struggled to own back his wives. Asweda sires a son at his old age. Twelve years later, he blesses his son Obulala and then dies partially satisfied. His brother Ocholi also dies mysteriously. Betrayal, cunningness wealth and poverty manifest in Asweda's lineage.

So, before I start reviewing this novel and explaining as to why I am giving it 5 stars, I want to say that Author should change the name of this novel to Revival of Eastern Roman Empire/Roman Empire, using the name some idiot thought to be romantic shouldn't be allowed. now, with ranting out of the way, let's move on to the review itself. Writing Quality - it isn't superb per-say, but, it only has few occasional mistakes and as such deserves at least 4.5 stars. Stability of Updates - 5 stars, because looking at it, it doesn't seem like he missed a day without a reason(such as being in the army, duh) Story Development - one of the things I really love in this novel is that it doesn't jump you straight into the action, it introduces characters left and right without making you feel tired and overwhelmed with all the Greek or Turkish names. fight scenes aren't forced and they are quite nicely introduced into the play. as such story development of this novel gets 5 stars. Character Design - now, this is the major thing that you should love in this novel if you love history... and that is characters... almost every character in this novel is someone you can google and learn more about. the only mistake I have seen so far in 90 chapters is Vladislav II Dracula, and it isn't that big of a mistake, just delete 'Dracula' in that name and everything is fine. Main Character is a likeable character and Side characters are actually important and 'alive', with their distinct personalities. World background - now this one is tough to rate because there are some amazing details that Author has implemented in his story, but there are some absurd things as well... like there being smoking pipes in the 15th century... as such I am giving the world background solid 4.8(there are other mistakes as well apart from smoking pipes, that's why it gets 4.8) Finally, the novel itself according to these criteriums gets... 4.825 Stars :P but Webnovel says it's 4.8... (don't trust it)

This novel is about the history of colonization era and medieval times, if you like history genre on a novel this one that i can recommend cause the author make the contents as accurate to the history, but it's an alternate history where the romans still survive. There is something that needs some polishing and it will be an great novel about historu for sure, if the author continues writing this novel and I'll support this novel too. Read it you might like it too.

I wanted to read it as it is looking good. But before that if I can learn two things I will be very happy. First is there any nationalism involves in it as I am Turkish and if it is extreme it will better for me to not to read at all and second one would be if is it contains multiple pov's then I just cant enjoy that kindbof novelsnovels which uses multiple pov's constantly.

Alright... so, to be honest, I'm no very familiar with the Byzantines, but I actually ended up loving this story. What I like the most is the writing quality. I love how you usually follow long long sentences with short ones. The word choice is superb too! Given that this is Historical fiction, the author did a great job of making this story easier to read and digest. The action is also well-executed which is another plus. This is a great book and any historical fan should try this out!

Story is quite thrilling in a sense of swashbuckling, sea-faring, mischievous adventure. Not my kind of thing but is definitely intriguing that could catch any kind of reader. Everything is in order, depth and words used are appropriate for each scenario that plays out. Although sometimes there are little mistakes hardly seen but I don’t need to nitpick too much. Oh and the protagonist ‘Antonio’ suddenly changed his name along the first chapter to ‘Antonius’. I’m only pointing this out. Anyways would recommend to any reader with a thirst for adventure. Hope you’ll keep writing. Best wishes to you author.

It is a beautiful pirate story with historical facts and great world-building. The story had a decent plot and minimal grammar errors. The MC's character is quite dynamic, and the story development is interesting with good constant update rate. Well done! It is definitely an enjoyable read! Added to the library.

I really like this story. It's hard to find a good story wehre the MC doesn't get a cheap cheat and has to work for almost ewrything. I also like how the story gives a good point how it would be possible for it to work and not some random luck. But please explain the characters more.

The novel is really interesting and fun. The history is accurate but has a different ending chosen by the author. Personally I'm not a big fan of historic novels but this one is a really good one and I would definitely recommend it.

An incredible story that is so historically accurate, I can't help but applaud the author. It is also humbling to read this story as it inspires me to be a better writer. Think about it: this story has a lot of historical facts and explanations and yet I, someone who passed my history test with a below average score, was drawn in. It never felt cluttered or boring and was rather engaging, a testament to not only how good the author is in writing, but how much effort he put in to make this compelling story. The characters are also well done and fleshed out and the action scenes are also great. Antonius is a character I can get behind; he is scheming but has a sense of honor. Abdullah is another character that I admired; I thought he would be one of those arrogant characters in webnovels that are there just for face slapping but was pleasantly surprised when I found him to be just as smart as Antonius. Grammar is also well done, just a few errors here and there but they hardly affect the story. As I mention in my reviews, there are stories with horrendous grammatical errors that are more popular than these hidden gems and make no mistake, this is a hidden gem.

The story is very interesting. Just one chapter into your book and I'm already hooked. Another thing I also observed is that your writing quality is flawless. Will love to read more. Keep it up! 👍

You should not put misleading labels, since, although the term cultivation can also be understood as cultivating your forces (army, supplies, etc.), in most cases it is associated with the cultivation of qi, and many will come here thinking that it is a cultivation novel, although somewhat rare, but still the novel is good, I recommend it

Someone said it gives the vibes of "Pirates of the Caribbean". And they aren't wrong, but it's also very rich in the history of the fictional world. I'm not really into historical fiction, but I was captivated by the storytelling and the character's names. They all have really good names. Awesome job Author.👍👏🏽

It's an alternate historical work which gives the vibes of "Pirates of the Caribbean". Tbh, it's been a while since I last read anything related to the Roman Empire and Byzantium. The story is packed with action and adventure. I'll seriously recommend this book to the history lovers. Good work author!!

Antonius as the MC is different from the real life Antonius II who ruled Byzantium aka Constantinople back then. Antonius II emerged from monastery. This alternate Antonius is wild like Jack Sparrow. and i like it. 💪💪💪
