Jasmine Won't Be Needing This Ring Anymore

Wednesday morning at Delhi...

Jasmine was excited that Rohit was going to come back that day, so she thought. She did not want to wait for him to see him in the evening as she had told her he would, she did not have the patience for that.

She decided to go to Burih Mansion and wait for him there, and help out madam Burih while waiting for him. She was going to be their daughter in-law soon, she thought she needed to bond with the family and be close to them at least.

She dressed up, this time around she took one of the family drivers, she wanted to make a good impression, the last time Rohit took her home, his family was not too pleased with her driving herself, Rohit had told them she preferred to drive herself than use her family's driver.

The driver drove her across town, when he got to Burih Mansion, he pulled over and parked the car, Jasmine came down and told the driver that he shouldn't wait for her, she didn't know how long she would be in the house for.

Rohit will drive her back when he comes back, so she thought. Ok miss Jasmine, I would be on my way, the driver drove off afterwards. Jasmine smiled and walked towards madam Burih.

Madam Burih was outside and had seen her alight from the car and wondered why she allowed her driver go. Did she think her son had nothing better to do than to drive her back, is he her driver! she said to herself.

She is not even thoughtful of her son. Her son, assuming he was coming back, would have had a long trip and would have needed to rest and should not be bothered to drive her back home. She is so uncultured. Thank God Rohit found himself a nice lady to marry, madam Mehra continued to say to herself.

Nicely dressed Madam Burih was outside because she was ensuring that all the gifts that were prepared, that would be presented to President Bhatt and his family, were all neatly placed in the trunk of one of the cars that would take them to the airport.

She decided to inspect them personally, so that mistakes would not occur. Jasmine moved closer to the house and to madam Mehra. As she walked, she noticed that everyone was busy.

She saw the maids and butlers go in and out of the house, carrying gifts and lugages respectively. She saw the little ones, who were supposed to be in school neatly dressed and playing around.

She saw some of the men who were supposed to be at work, walk out of the house, dressed as though they were going out for a function. They didn't come out alone, they came out with their wife's, and entered their cars.

After entering, they waited, nobody drove off, it seems they were waiting for the others to be ready aswell and come out to join them in the cars.

One of the wives then called out to the children that they should stop playing and get in the car. The children obeyed and got in different cars, each child entered the cars their parents were in.

Jasmine wondered what was going on, she was going to find out soon. I would ask Madam Burih, she said to herself. She reached were Madam Burih was and said, Namaste mum and bent down to touch her feet.

She bent down, touched madam Burih's feet but madam Burih did not touch her head to bless her, she did not even respond back the namaste greeting to Jasmine.

She sneered and murmured to herself, this child is calling me mum, I haven't even given her permission to do so, she is so rude. After murmuring that to herself, she asked Jasmine, why did you come?

Rohit is not here, you should know he traveled for work. Jasmine stood up, a little disappointed that Madam Burih has still not acknowledged her as a future daughter in-law of the Burih family.

She replied, yes mum I know Rohit traveled, but he informed me that he would be coming back home today, so I came to the house so that I can welcome him when he comes home.

Did he tell you to come here? Madam Mehra asked. No mum, he didn't, I decided to come on my own. Well child you should go back home and wait for him there, you have not even married him yet and you are being disobedient, madam Burih replied.

Jasmine was disappointed, she did not want to give up, at the same time, she did not want to appear rude. She asked anyway, mum, is everyone going for a function? Madam Burih looked at her with a displeased look and replied, yes child, a friend of the family invited us for a function, she lied.

No one would be at home and I suggest you should go back and wait for Rohit, am sure he would call you when he arrives. Jasmine smiled and said, well mum, in that case I should be on my way, I will just go home and wait for Rohit to call me.

As Jasmine was about to turn around and leave, madam Burih then called her sweetly, Jasmine dear? She paused and wondered why Madam Burih was suddenly sweet to her. She hoped it would continue, she then thought that Madam Burih had changed her mind and had accepted her as her daughter in-law.

She faced madam Burih and answered, yes mum? She smiled while she answered. Let me take a look at that engagement ring that Rohit gave you, I haven't actually seen in on you before. Please take it off, I want to take a proper look.

Jasmine smiled and said, right before Rohit went on his business trip, he proposed to me and gave me this ring. As soon as she said that, she handed over the ring that she had pulled from her ring finger to madam Burih.

Madam Burih took the ring from her and looked at it carefully. She said in her head. Jasmine won't be needing this ring anymore, Sweet Sunita deserves to wear this ring and not her.

She then said to Jasmine sweetly as if she meant it, Jasmine dear, I know of a famous jeweler who can get your ring to shine more than this. I want to help you take it to him, you can get the ring back when you come back to the house at another time.

Although Jasmine loved her ring like that, she did not need it to shine any brighter than it already does, she thought of this as a perfect opportunity to establish a good relationship with her soon to be mother in law, so she thought again.

Thanks mum, you are so kind, I would leave my engagement ring with you then, am sure it would be safe in your hands. I would be on my way then. Please tell Dad I send my greetings, I don't want to delay you anymore, please carry on mum with the gifts arrangement. After saying this, Jasmine left.

When Jasmine got outside of Burih's mansion, she then remembered that she had sent the driver away earlier. She then hauled a taxi. When the taxi stopped for her, she entered and told the taxi driver to go to White George Corporations. Her father did not own a business of his own, he works at White George Corporations.

She decided to go see her father, her father had been telling her to visit him in his office, he wanted to teach her about how to work in an office. Ever since she informed her family that she wanted to work, and that she had applied for a management trainee position at Jah Company, her father has been supportive of her choice and prayed she got hired.

When Jasmine got into the taxi and left, Madam Burih smiled wickedly, she had successfully taken the engagement ring away from Jasmine. She then made a mental note to give it to Rohit when she sees him in Bombay.

Soon, the butlers finished putting all the gifts in the trunk of the car. They closed the trunk of the car afterwards and continued with other work. Madam Burih then went back inside the house to talk to her husband about Jasmine.

Inside the house upstairs, her husband asked, I hope you successfully got rid of her and I hope she doesn't suspects a thing? Yes dear, she doesn't suspects a thing, I was able to take away her engagement ring, Sunita deserves this and not her, madam Burih replied.

Very good dear, am ready and so are you, we should be heading out. The rest of the family should be ready aswell. We don't want to miss our flight, her husband said.

Madam Burih and her husband came out of the mansion, and when everyone else that were left inside the house came out, all entered different cars and left.

Six of the cars were used. The family used four of the cars, few bodyguards used one while the lucky few maids and butlers who they took along used the last one.

They got to the airport, and the plane flew them all from Delhi to Bombay. When they reached Bombay, Rohit and his assistant came to welcome them. They exchanged pleasantries.

After the pleasantries, Rohit's father said to Rohit, am proud of you son, not only did you make the company proud, you also made your family proud. Thanks Dad, but I didn't do it alone, my assistant here also helped alot, Rohit replied.

Rohit and his assistant took the family to Bhatt Hotels and suites. Rohit had booked enough room that would contain everybody including the bodyguards, maids and butlers that came along.

They showed everyone to their rooms and everyone settled in. Rohit went to his parents room and knocked. His mother was the one who opened the door for him.

His mother hugged him again, the first time was at the airport. After hugging him, she dragged him to sit down on the sofa in the room. He sat and greeted his father again.

His father responded his greeting. By this time, his mum had gone to her drawer and back to Rohit. She spoke to him. Son, please give this to Sunita, she deserves it.

He looked at what his mum gave him, it was a ring, he took it, and looked at it carefully, it was the same ring he gave to Jasmine when he proposed to Jasmine.

Mum this is the same ring I gave to Jasmine, how did you get this? he asked. Rohit I took it from her, I figured she won't need it anymore, Sunita deserves to wear this not her.

But mum! Rohit looked sad, you shouldn't have, it is bad enough I dumped her, you should have left it for her. He paused and continued...but thank you.

I haven't had the time to buy another ring, I will just give this to Sunita. The wedding is close, it would save me time. He stayed with his parents for a while before he left for his own later on.
