Chapter 6- In This World

Cheng Jin finally woke up from her sleep. She then observed her still overly small size body. The surrounding was peaceful as there was not a single sound.

No vehicles were passing by the busy street... and there was not any human noise...

As if she was the only one in this world...

Her eyes reddened suddenly, and her tears poured out loud.

The moonlight that shone into the chamber only enhanced the feeling of being deserted.

Cheng Jin burst into tears as she was panicked to the extreme.

"It can't be that I can only stay in this world? I can only reside in this Ah Luo's body, grow up slowly and then get married when the time comes? I should end this life just like that?

The candlelight was lit up. Xiao Yu lifted up the bed curtain and nervously embraced her.

"Xiao Jie, are you having nightmares again? Don't worry, Xiao Yu is here. There is no need to be afraid."

Cheng Jin saw Xiao Yu's fluffed her hair while rubbing onto her sleepy eyes. She was only a ten-year-old kid and yet she was here comforting her.

She was already a twenty-two-year-old girl, how can she let her concern and protect her?

She slowly stopped her tears and spoke to Xiao Yu.

"I can't sleep anymore. Xiao Yu, can you lay with me in bed for a while, and chat with me?"

Xiao Yu looked at the trace of wet tears on Ah Luo's face. It was tempting and alluring under the brightness of the candlelight. Her expression was full of pleading. There was unspeakable unobtrusiveness.

Her small heart was thinking that her young miss is only six years old, yet her distressed look is so charming and irresistible. One cannot guess what a great beauty she will be when she grows up.

She listened to Ah Luo's request and laid on the bed.

Cheng Jin said to Xiao Yu.

"Tell me about the world. What is it like? And also about this country, Ningguo. How is it like?"

Xiao Yu beamed shyly.

"Xiao Yu only knows that there are five kingdoms in this world. The Qi Guo kingdom in the west, the Xia Guo Kingdom in the southwest, An Guo kingdom in the north and Chen Guo in the south. Ning Guo is in the east. It is the largest and most powerful kingdom among all. We are currently in the capital of Ning Guo, Feng city. Xiao Jie, our Feng city, is really huge. Even the horses need a few hours to run from east to west of the city. The most happening time will be the Lantern Festival! It will be filled with lantern lights at the Du Ning River and also a lot of paintings too! At night, that place is like a fairy tale!

Cheng Jin was thinking deeply.

'What kind of place is this ah?'

Since she was already in this time and space, she will think about it in the future! She needed to digest everything hence, she closed her eyes. Xiao Yu stopped speaking as she thought that she was asleep again, and drifted into her dreamland too.

Cheng Jin opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling.

'Looks like I am really going to live as this Ah Luo of the Li household.'

She managed to suppress all the fearsome and dreadful thoughts forcefully.

'It's lucky that I am still a small kid now, and old father Li is some right prime minister. There's nothing to worry about temporarily.'

'There's still a few more years for me to grow up and start to face those things. Maybe I might be able to go back someday out of sudden?'

'Just a nightmare! Hmph!'

Cheng Jin calmed herself and settled with such thought.

Cheng Jin began to analyze her own capabilities.

She majored in English at university -useless...

She had lived in modern life for twenty-two years - a little bit of knowledge from the modern world more or less could help her life here...

Poetry can be copied - she had managed to grasp the culture of five thousand years of evolution from her world... It doesn't matter whether if it was Tang poetry or Song poetry, she remembered the popular lines.

She can't sing as she was always out of tune, but it's alright since she knew some songs and lyrics, it might help.

She can practice yoga. Karate was her best shot. She could settle three or five ordinary men in a short time. Well, at least she will not be a helpless maiden.

Cheng Jin sighed in relief.

Luckily her public officer parents were always busy with work and did not spend a lot of time in taking care of her. Hence, they let her learnt Karate to protect herself. That also contributed in training her to be independent as nobody managed her since she was five. Oh yeah! Culinary skills! She can cook well!

Cheng Jin was same as Robinson Crusoe who was stranded in an island. She even somehow found it exciting as she had some useful skills. After thinking for half a day, there was nothing else anymore.

'It was said that in ancient time, a maiden will get married at the age of thirteen, therefore this six-year-old Ah Luo had at least seven years more to go. She can learn about what kind of society she is in and what kind of people and thing that she will face in the future.'

She just had to learn from scratch, right?

There only one important thing! Being able to survive!

Cheng Jin said to herself.

'From today onwards, I am the third young miss of the Li-Right Prime Minister, Ah Luo!'

She realized that the women in this society did not bind their feet and she was once again relieved. She still remembers the look of her grandmother's bound feet, it was really goose-bumping!

Cheng Jin then recalled back the people that she encountered in the big hall and analyzed them in detail. Old father Li and his father were politicians. She wondered if this old father Li is an upright person or not. In history, there were not many prime ministers who had a good ending in their lives. Most of the politicians who were high ranked with powerful resources normally will be 'Kacha' by the emperor. As long as one does not commit some big crime, one's safety can be guaranteed. She just hoped that this old father Li will not be deposed from his position or having his whole family being beheaded due to crime. She was afraid of those cruel methods of torturing from ancient time.

The seventh madam was afraid of fighting against each other but it was obvious that the other six madams disliked her.

'Was is due to the fact that Qi Furen is the youngest? Or she is beautiful? Or some other unknown reason?'

Old Father Li only had three daughters. Cheng Jin was contemplating whether she wanted to be his most favourite daughter or not. There were goods and bads. The good thing was she can improve the relationship between him and the seventh madam and also she might get some special privileges. The bad thing was she will attract unwanted attention and it will be hard to be unobtrusive in the future.

She had been observing the environment around the time when she came back. Their courtyard was located in the most inner part of the Li household. They only had Nanny Zhang and Xiao Yu as servants. Nanny Zhang spent most of her time with the seventh madam and Xiao Yu attend herself.

The layout and decoration of their courtyard are elegant. There were no valuable silvers or jewellery. Even like today, the seventh madam wore only two hairpins and one beaded flower. It was far way simpler than the other six madams.

Thinking of the tenderness and gentleness of the seventh madam, Cheng Jin was sure that it was due to the fact that she had given birth to a daughter and thus, she was cast aside.

A six-year-old body with a twenty-two-year-old mind, coupled with some modern knowledge and thought, it was not difficult if Cheng Jin wanted to win old father Li's attention, right?

However, once she thought of catching attention from the other six madams, she decided to temporarily observe first and get herself familiar with the environment first. She should keep herself in peace for a few years first, right?
