The crew was hand picked by the captain himself, so all the posts were maned by the best possible people in his opinion. With that level of talent, Vin had to put everything to his work and when he made a mistake he would be scrutinized somewhat harshly.
"Excuse me." Vin said walking towards a table
Vougt, Revin and Iton were talking by the door and parted to let him pass.
"Wait." Revin said grabbing his shoulder "Do you like cleaning the deck so often?"
"No, but I was ordered to do so, so'll do it." he replied
"Well, we're going fishing and need some help." Iton stated "You coming?"
Vin's face lit up and he nodded in agreement.
Around lunch the next day, the three men come up to Vin, who was cleaning the deck and told him they were ready.
"Alright, these waters are somewhat shallow so we'll swim and see what we can catch." Revin said handing each man a spear "We'll come up when the first bell rings."
Each man slowly took off their clothes until all they had left was their pants and dove in with excitement. The light from the midday sun brighten the turquoise waters and gave the sea a magical look, a look that reminded Vin of home. The three men were a little ways away from Vin and were swimming closer to the small Island, so Vin decided to impress them. with each fish he found, his confidence grew until when the bell rang and they all went back to the ship, he had double the total fish the men had collectively.
"Vin, what did you do?" Revin asked
"Yeah, that amount is crazy." Iton added " Guys, come and check this out."
Most of the crew came over to see the catch and were equally as surprised, including the captain.
"Good work boy, now all you have to do is cook em." The captain shouted
Everyone started laughing while Vin took his and the other's catch to the kitchen to store. The experience on the ship with a group people as close as brothers was something Vin needed and he was enjoying every second of it but those were the calm days.
