144. Hua Xiong's Slain By Dian Wei

Dian Wei left the tent and got on his horse. Another war drum was sounded, accompanying Dian Wei go rode out to the field toward Hua Xiong who was waiting for him. The coalition army who saw this didn't have much hope for Dian Wei and thought that he would be Hua Xiong's victim, just like the other generals before him.

Hua Xiong began to ride toward Dian Wei, raising his glaive and preparing to strike Dian Wei. Dian Wei also rides toward him, holding his twin halberd and a loud shout to intimidate Hua Xiong.

When Hua Xiong and Dian Wei collide, the sound of their weapon clashing against each other reverberates across the field. Hua Xiong was surprised by the strength Dian Wei exhibited, he could feel that his strength was below Dian Wei by a large margin.

He even felt that it was like when he faced off in a duel with Lu Bu, the difference is Lu Bu's strength is much higher than Dian Wei with a more intimidating aura. Everyone was surprised when they heard the sounds of Hua Xiong's and Dian Aei's weapons colliding.

Everyone especially Hua Xiong himself sees this and becomes surprised, Hua Xiong curses his numb arm that isn't 100% after dueling with 4 other generals even though they are easy opponents to him.

Li Jue and Guo Si saw this, they were also experienced generals from the frontier and knew that Hua Xiong was in trouble. Li Jue ordered for the gate pass to be opened, he sent 300 soldiers to cover Hua Xiong.

The war drums on Sishui Pass sounded, surprising the coalition warlord and soldiers. Seeing 300 men rushing out, heading toward Hua Xiong makes all of the warlords curse Dong Zhuo's generals.

Lie Fan: "Huang Zhong Come with me! Let's protect Dian Wei!"

Huang Zhong: "Yes My Lord, please sound the war drum!"

Cao Cao: "Givernor Lie Fan! Are you sure you want to interrupt the duel like this?"

Lie Fan: "Humph! this isn't a duel anymore, Doing Zhuo's side has broken that fact first."

After saying that, Lie Fan and Huang Zhong leave the main tent. They get on their horse, and when Kie Fan's army drum sounds 500 Guard Battalion follows Lie Fan and Huang Zhong ride out to the center of the field.

While both armies send their reinforcement, Hua Xiong who loses his main weapon takes out a sword from his hip. He attacked Dian Wei with a slash to his head, but Dian Wei managed to dodge the attack.

Before Hua Xiong can regain his body position, Dian Wei uses his twin halberd with both hands to cut off Hua Xiong's arm. Hua Xiong let out a pained cry, his soldier's morale began to fall and the coalition soldiers cheered loudly their morale rising.

Li Jue and Guo Si began to panic seeing this, seeing that the coalition army also sent their own cavalry they regretted not holding Hua Xiong back after the fourth duel.

Hua Xiong lost his right arm which was his main hand, and losing his sword makes Hua Xiong's combat effective hit low bottom. Dian Wei continues his onslaught on the defenseless Hua Xiong, he uses both of his twin halberds and slashes them at Hua Xiong's head.

Hua Xiong who saw this turned his horse with his left hand, trying to run away while dodging Dian Wei's move. Dian Wei who sees his love being dodged and Hua Xiong running away, becomes angry and throws one of his halberds at Hua Xiong hitting him on the head.

The Warlords and coalition soldiers cheered in their camp seeing that the invisible Hua Xiong was slain by Dian Wei. Li Jue and Guo Si who saw this knew they would get in trouble when they reported back to Dong Zhuo, losing his son-in-law.

300 Dong Zhuo's cavalry that tried to save Hua Xiong, seeing that Hua Xiong is slain they tried to save his corpse. Lie Fan and Huang Zhong leading 500 guard battalion managed to catch up with Dian Wei, together under Lie Fan's lead they attacked the 300 Cavalries.

The first blood was spilled, Hua Xiong a frontier general famed for his power and for putting fear in the heart of the Wuhuan, and Xiongnu was slain by Dian Wei. Lie Fan, Huang Zhong, and Dian Wei seemed invincible leading 500 guard battalion, managed to retrieve Hua Xiong's head.

Hua Xiong's corpse was desecrated, only his body was left on the field. Of the 300 cavalries that were sent out to help Hua Xiong, 150 are dead due to the overwhelming number of Fan's guard battalion 2 on 1 and the rest now retreating bringing Hua Xiong's body.

Lie Fan, Huang Zhong, and Dian Wei returned to the main tent of the coalition Army. They were welcomed splendidly by the other warlords, Cao Cao was envious of Lie Fan having Dian Wei while Liu Bei was disheartened that Guan Yu lost his chance to shine.

Yuan Shao: "Marvelous Governor Lie Fan! General Dian Wei is truly unparalleled! He can defeat Hua Xiong easily like that!"

Lie Fan: "It's all Disn Wei's hard work for him to have that kind of prowess, Leader I suggested that we attack Sishui pass now seeing as they have just lost their main general and their morale is low."

Sun Jian: "I seconded Governor Lie Fan, Leader what Governor Lie Fan said is true! We should attack them now, it's the perfect chance!"

Yuan Shao: "Good, Then everyone prepare your army and under my command, we will attack Sishui Pass! Lord Sun Jian and Governor Lie Fan, I hope you two are ready to lead the charge as the vanguard!"

Lie Fana and Sun Jian both saluted Yuan Shao, saying that they were ready. So under Yuan Shao's leadership, the coalition force attacked Sishui Pass.

Lie Fan and Sun Jian as the vanguard led the first wave of attack, they used a tactic from Jia Xu and Xun You to lead the soldiers attacking boast Dian Wei's might. This is to put fear in the opposing soldiers' hearts and use a shield wall making a turtle formation to protect the infantries from arrows.

Huang Zhong on the back alongside Chao Bo leads the Archer Battalion, they sniped the archers and infantries atop Sishui Pass. Jia Xu as the poisonous strategist, invented a new type of arrow that was tied to a small cloth bag.

Inside it was a chili powder, before it was shot they lit a small fire at the cloth bag, and when it reached the enemies flying above them the chili powder fell down stinging Dong Zhuo's soldier's eyes. The combination of these 3 strategies helped Lie Fan and Sun Jian smoothly reach the gate, where they protected the battering ram that was used to break through the gate.

Due to the size of the Sishui Pass gate and the oncoming Hulao Pass, the battering ram was made by Coalition Army engineers much larger so it moves slower than usual. Li Jue and Guo Si who is leading the defence now, ordered the archers to target the battering ram.

Sishui Pass's first battle was bloody and brutal, fortunately, Lie Fan has trained his army for this type of battle and their equipment is better than all of the coalition soldiers. Even with that, Lie Fan lost 1,000 men after the first skirmish ended, whereas Xun You calculated that in a week they could bring down Sishui Pass.

At Luoyang, a report was sent to Dong Zhuo and Li Ru about Hua Xiong's death. Dong Zhuo who heard this was immediately angry, scolding Li Jue and Guo Si for not holding Hua Xiong back.

Having a headache about how to explain this to his daughter, Dong Zhuo closed his eyes in annoyance. Li Ru saw this and suggested that Dong Zhuo send Lu Bu and 30,000 soldiers to guard Hulao Pass.

They underestimated the Coalition Army's power, a general as strong as Hua Xiong is a big threat, and sending Lu Bu was the only way to mitigate this problem. Dong Zhuo at a time like this listened to Li Ru, he agreed and ordered Lu Bu to take 30, 00 soldiers and guard Hulao Pass.

Lu Bu listened to the order, riding his new horse Red Hare he called for all of the Bing Army now his battalion headed towards Hulao Pass. Li Jue and Guo Si not knowing that the mighty Lu Bu they disdained now is guarding Hulao Pass, tried their best to defend Sishui Pass from the coalition.

During the second skirmish because of Hua Xiong's death, Dong Zhuo's soldiers' morale is at an all-time low. With the slogan praising Dian Wei's might, the resistance they put was easily broken through by the Coalition soldiers.

Dian Wei, Chao Bai, Fang Yue, and Ze Rong lead the Infantries from the front. Lie Fan and Zang Ba hold the cavalries, watching the battle from the rear. Suddenly the gate was opened and a bunch of cavalries rode out, killing the infantries operating the battering ram.

Dong Zhuo's cavalry managed to halt the attack on Sishui Gate, they rode out pushing through the sea of infantries. Lie Fan seeing this led his Guard Battalion alongside his bodyguards and Zang Ba who led the cavalry battalion, they headed out to stop Dong Zhuo's cavalry from causing more damage.
