Missions

'Though I might have this cheat ability, I feel if I stayed here for a much longer period of time my growth would stagnate and be prolonged. I don't even know if this system would be with me forever..'

Ray had many things in his mind as he took the daily session mentioned. everyday, he would eat some books and occasionally gain an enhanced version of a spell that was above the original and taught in textbooks.

With the capacity of mana fixed for Ray, he could learn the spell easily and gain the default version of the spells as provided in school. He was able to learn Fireball, Ice bolt, Water ball, Shard, and Wind Blades in his arsenal as they were the most versatile spells one could learn. He was taking steps in casting magic with one word in the chamber in the Zero Vatican with various forms and different technique to find the correct method to perform with ease.

Claude's choices on the incident made them value Ray and mostly everyone knew of his values as well.

The academy even gave him a higher clearance level to look at more books to increase his knowledge and expand his mind of the plane of existence. The books in the higher areas were all copied from arch mage and some sages.

The sages' books usually were excellent in depth and complexity but arch mages, who mastered many spells of high caliber, had less in depth of those who're lower leveled.

Talents couldn't speak for everyone and some occasions, people managed to leap that barrier of talent and help the world to become better. Those who're lower leveled had more in depth descriptions of low leveled spells, but those low leveled spells were their lifeline and they strengthened them to their limits.

The Wanderer had many series of books he published but due to his mysterious behavior, nobody could find original notes or even the level of the magician. But due to his many books of the lower level spells and little books of the high leveled spells, many speculate he was just a low leveled mage.

Ray was perplexed as all books he read from him all gave him the ability of a higher form of the original spell. He was a genius if anyone sure saw him.

During the demonstrations in his inner space, he was never able to make up his space, he was an unique case as only words came out. he criticized all the times he tried to copy the spells but failed and the moment he successfully mastered them, it would have more attitude afterwards.

A peculiar example of all the other books he learned it from.

Many people around him class would come occasionally to ask for some pointers and he would give them out easily after taking a look from his data bank.

With his success and all the right pointers with the books memorized in his head, pinpointing the book, he became friendly and even worshiped by the students.

Many students even came to the once Zero Vatican and the librarian had to actually work instead of taking naps, many students would check out books and she had to record each one.

He was reaching the point where he was unable to rise his mana pool efficiently as the books in each wouldn't give any exciting skills and the mana used to copy the contents of the books was reaching its limits. He would have to eat more items that held more magic if he wanted to grow.

He thought of buying original copies of high leveled spells but those costs came higher as they went up from each level as though it weren't expensive enough.

An original copy would cost someone from 50 Gold to 100,000 gold. 100 Gold wouldn't amount to anything from what he received and he would need to haggle to make something work properly.

At best, he could get two Level 1 Original copies if he barter efficiently.

He had to earn money somehow and he came up with three solutions.

One was to write magic scrolls and sell them in the city or through the academy. Writing a magic scroll wasn't difficult but the prices of low leveled scrolls were very little amounting to just about 50 Silvers at production cost and could be sold for 75 at its highest depending on its ability. If he sold it through the academy, no matter how good or bad the quality was, it would always sell for 60 silvers. but if he were to sell it in the market, he could sell the scrolls on the availability of the scroll and make profit. But many students already took the idea and most days they sold for just about 51 or 52 silvers and some days, even 49.

The second solution was to learn magic crafting. Magic Craftsman were one of the most esteemed occupation in the kingdom. It was those sorts of easy to learn but hard to master occupation and skill and talent wasn't enough to truly master crafting with magic. Luck played a part in it as well and that scared most students of that occupation so it became a highly valued occupation with just a few masters and a high beginner count. If he were to try to make money on a bet, it would be dangerous and might even make him lose more money instead, not even talking about the costs of the tutorial, lessons from teachers, and even equipment cost. But it was still a solution he could use after he was able to get money, if he were to craft his own gear, he wouldn't have to spend money at all.

The third was the most straightforward and simplest. The mission board he couldn't do when he didn't have the ability to cast any spells and he avoided it just like that. But with the new ability he received from a god or devil, he could finally do the missions. Missions on the mission board was mostly handled by students supervised and financed by the school board of magicians of the region district. Any people could leave missions or quests on the board as long as they were able to pay the admission fee and taxes that goes toward the school board to fund more items. Students could also be able to leave missions up and could give credits, a unique currency used by the academy to students to handle what they could use in the academy like all of their faculties and buy items to further their cultivation or knowledge. Most patrons from outside the academy usually gave coins and a minimum fee was 1 Gold for missions to be registered.

He had trouble picking the second or third one since giving up the second one entirely would be bad.

So he decided, he would use the third one to slowly build up the funds to start the second one.

He left the training chamber of the Zero Vatican. Students that were reading noticed his presence outside and all bowed in respect and made small talk with him.

he obliged and slowly got out.

He began walking east of the park near the walls of the magic academy where he saw a small little opening of the domineering wall with a counter and a tall sign filled with numerous papers pinned on the blank slate of the sign.

It was a rather dull location but this was a place one could receive missions and get rewards.

A student would be on each side of the wall that took care of events outside and inside of the academy. Selected few outside the academy can even fulfill the requests given to adventurers and mercenaries but all was fine.

He looked through the wall and saw many menial labor in each of them paying just the minimum amount before finding a perfect one.

He was surprised of the rewards he could reap if he managed to fulfill it.

He ripped it off the sign and came up to the receptionist, excited to do his first mission and receive a big reward for doing it.
