At first, Hao Bo wanted to help Liao Yun. At least she would be able to fend half of the mercenaries over there. She ran as fast as possible. And when she saw more than half of them used their crossbow, her face paled.
[It is impossible to survive the rain of pelt. How despicable! They are clearly prepared.] Hao Bo grimaced in her mind. [I cannot arrive in time.]
But even so, she kept running. No matter what, Liao Yun was still her client. The death of a client was a stain for any mercenary's pride.
But her legs grew weaker as she saw the bizarre scene in front of her. Hao Bo didn't believe the scene in front of her! It was a miracle!
Liao Yun's capability to evade the rain of pelts was admirable! If she was in Liao Yun's shoes, she would be holed everywhere on her body.
Each of Liao Yun's movement was not very fast, but she was nimble enough to avoid every incoming pelt. Her movement was no different from a dance. There was not even one pelt arrived on the target.
All missed!
Hao Bo was dazzled by such scene!
If Liao Yun was a mercenary, her evasion skill should be comparable to a 2-star mercenary.
The rank in Mercenary Guild was not only to gauge the disparity between strength for mercenaries but also many factors. Fighting skill, leading skill, survival skill, and many more. And evasion skill was one of the most important ability for a low star mercenary like herself.
Even though Hao Bo envied Liao Yun's skill, she heaved a sigh of relief because Liao Yun could protect herself while she came closer.
That was what she thought.
But unfortunately, Liao Yun did something unexpected again.
She went closer to the crowd of mercenary!
[. . . It's over.] Hao Bo paled for the second time as she believed that Liao Yun would end up dead.
And again, she received another surprise.
Liao Yun was not wounded at all as she received the brunt of the incoming pelt. No, the pelts were all bounced off from Liao Yun's body!
Even though it was a perfect shot, it was unable to deal any damage to Mingyue's body.
Hao Bo's mouth was opened agape. She couldn't believe what she saw. She slowed down, and in the end, she stopped. She stood in one spot as she was spectating an almost impossible feat in all of her life.
An Elemental was shrouding Liao Yun's body as she rushed forward. Liao Yun punched every mercenary in front of her. One clean hit for one mercenary. She didn't receive any retaliation as the mercenaries lost their will to fight back.
They were scattered as they tried to run away.
But who was Liao Yun? She wouldn't let them off at all. In a matter of a second, she caught up with another mercenary and gifted them with a punch. One by one, all mercenary was pummeled down until they couldn't move at all.
What surprised Hao Bo was the shrouding Elemental around Mingyue. It was used for both offence and defence! Each of Liao Yun's attack was deadly and packed a lot of strength, while her body was protected from the rain of pelts.
Even Hao Bo herself couldn't do such feat!
[. . . Do- don't tell me. Above the Battle Fighter, and also above Battle Warrior.] Hao Bo trembled. Not because of fear, because there was a trace of excitement and adoration on her eyes as she was dazzled.
[The only one who can manipulate Elemental to aid their combat. Can be used for offence and defence.]
Hao Bo gulped down in her nervousness.
[. . . E- Elemental Warrior?]
There was a ranking for a warrior to gauge strength.
Began from a Battle Fighter, the lowest stage of a warrior. They were mostly depended on their physical strength for their battle. Most of the Battle Fighter would depend on their weapon because it was one of the few ways for Battle Fighter to increase their strength.
Elemental usage was out of the question since they had no aptitude to draw Elemental in the surroundings. And even if someone was capable to draw Elemental, it wouldn't be able to help in the fight because their concentration would be split between fighting and manipulating the Elemental.
For example, a flick of fire couldn't change the outcome of the fight or increase Battle Fighter strength.
Making it short, Battle Fighter focused on their physical strength and experience. And many of the Battle Fighter was unable to advance since they never honed their Elemental manipulation.
The next stage was Battle Warrior. Unlike Battle Fighter, a Battle Warrior was capable to enhance their strength via Elemental for a short and limited time.
If a Battle Warrior enhanced their leg, their running speed would be much faster. And they were also capable to enhance their weapon, whether it was to increase the durability or the sharpness.
Battle Warrior began to have their speciality and developed their own Battle Technique.
And Elemental Warrior was the stage after Battle Warrior. With the top-notch Elemental manipulation, they were able to cover the whole body to fight.
Hao Bo didn't know much about Elemental Warrior since most of them would stay at a big city. For her, the Elemental Warrior existence was akin to an idol, a respected figure. Especially for a small mercenary group like her Turtle Shell Mercenary.
Her gaze now was filled with a respect.
She saw the aftermath of the fight. The lone figure on the battlefield.
She was trying to burn the figure in front of her into her mind. She didn't want to forget it. The absolute strength.
…
"Be careful!" Liang Chun growled as she smacked down a mercenary using her great sword. She was battered in the wound as she was gradually cornered. In front of her were seven people taking the turn to deplete her stamina.
It was known that using a heavy-weapon would wear down the user faster. Moreover, Liang Chun couldn't afford to pull back her fist
Her greatsword was pierced on the ground as she used it to hold her weight. She was covered with sweats as her breathing was rough. Her vision grew blurry as she couldn't check her group mates behind.
As a vanguard, it was disgraceful to let some slippery fish endangering the backline.
"Bang!" One of the seven people that were occupying her was hit.
Liang Chun was a little surprised. She could see someone's figure was fighting the other six mercenaries.
[Damn! It is disgraceful! I must not lose!] Gritting her teeth, Liang Chun pulled her great sword and swung it forward. "DIE YOU DAMN BUG!"
But unfortunately, that one swing was enough to drain all of her strength. Liang Chun fell down.
"Damn!" Qin Yi left the wagon and went toward the fallen Liang Chen.
As Liang Chen's consciousness returned, she could see the figure of Qin Yi in front of her vision. Her body was still paralyzed and most of her muscles were in pain, thanks to overworking her body.
"Don't move, don't talk." Sweat after sweat trickled down following the shape of her face, but Qin Yi didn't mind it. She was focusing all of her attention to improve regeneration ability of Liang Chun.
"St- stand back. It is not the time for this." Liang Chun gipped her greatsword tightly as she forced herself up.
"No! Can't you see your own body?" Qin Yi tried to drag Liang Chun's body down, but it was useless. With a different body frame, Liang Chun had more strength than Qin Yi even if Liang Chun was in battered down condition.
Using her greatsword like a walking stick, Liang Chun tried to stand tall. But her injury wouldn't let her continue her fight. "But. . ."
"Don't worry. Look." Qin Yi pointed her index finger to the person that was fighting alone.
He was wearing a small shield on his hand. No, it was a pair. One on the left hand and another one in the right hand.
Wearing a small shield was convenient because the user's movement wouldn't be disturbed as the user used his or her main weapon. Moreover, a small shield could be used in some critical moment, especially to protect the user's vital.
For example Mo Hua. He used a normal size shield because he used the shield as his main weapon while using a mace in another hand. His fighting style was limited because he was focused on his shield. Or more exactly, his big size shield disturbed his movement. He couldn't move agiler. In one way, a big shield could become a burden. A big one.
It was different with a small shield because it was worn on one side while the other hand would grip his main weapon.
But the scene before Liang Chun was more like a shock for her.
Fu Tao was alone fending off the mercenaries. No, not only fending off but also defeating them one by one. But what made her baffled was the weapon used by Fu Tao.
A small shield was fine, but what about a pair of a small shield?
Not only that but also Fu Tao was using his pair of a small shield to fight proactively! No, he was literally whacking the mercenaries using his small shield!
He rushed forward to take the initiative as each of his punch was heavy enough. Shielding himself with one small shield, Fu Tao was able to counter with another shield.
"We are safe." Qin Yi shrugged her shoulder, but she didn't stop her healing. "And Mo Hua was protecting the wagon in case of surprise attack or making that unconscious boy as a hostage."
"And the leader?" Liang Chun moved her gaze into another place and realized that the fight had already ended on another side.
". . . Is, is the fight ended?" Liang Chun couldn't move her gaze from a lone woman standing alone.
It was a gallant figure, akin to a general standing alone on the battlefield.
Similar to Hao Bo, Liang Chun also was enchanted by that figure.
And everyone forgot about Fu Tao.
