A lostbelt is basically an alternate timeline in which the history differs from the original timeline which prevents humanity from growing or ending it which leads Alaya to prune the timeline but somehow through the strength of the individual in the timeline it survives the pruning and becomes a different world altogether? I'm not sure if I explained it correctly though but that's the gist of it
