To put it simply. Brian is in the position Amelie was in. Before Amelie has the power in this scenario and Brian wants answers because his perspective that his hero has been shattered. Amelie is unaware that she’s using her power to force intimacy on someone. Brian isn’t a monster but he’s in a compromised state and Amelie wants comfort. Like Lena did. Amelie is a monster and so is Brian they are different people but Amelie is simply perpetuating this cycle of emotional manipulation albeit unconsciously. While Brian just wants someone to tell him what he wants to hear

I was expecting this. Try to reread the chapter and go back and reread the section with Lena walking out on Emily. And you’ll find some parallels to Amelie and Lena.

Everything should be explained in detail in a very soon upcoming chapter but to put it simply the war started 4 years ago and officially lasted 3 years with the rehabilitation of Amelie starting about 1 year before the current day hence why Chloe Hollings is still very involved with Amelie.
