I am not qualified to say that because I didn't have enough knowledge or expertise in the field but i would have gone for the omnipotent "horror" attribute. (basically reality manipulation but specializing in fear) . then it would go well with the abyssal gaze of the mc and all but all my attributed are unconventional and i can see author going the simple elemental route. so it would be disrespectful for the author if i were to criticise him while being me.

it's called OCD. but it's OCD in a very small amount. chill dude. every author has a different disciplines or obsessions that are totally normal. it doesn't always for word count. if you have actually seen what authors do to increase in other stories you would be doubting your life choices you understand. besides everything it looks aesthetically cool looking to me. everyone has their own tastes so chill dude ,chill and read to your heart content it will elevate the experience more unlike asking "is this necessary? blah blah" it sounds so disrespectful to the author.
