Book 2? Not until next year at the earliest. I need more people to read Book 1 first or there's no point continuing. I hope you'll leave a review?

The book is definitely a mystery. Like a lot of books, it starts with a teaser/hook, just like how the real Harry Potter starts following Harry's defeat of Voldemort as a baby. It's complete now, so I hope you'll give it a chance.

Interesting thought, but she won't appear in this story. I believe canonically, she has been in Azkaban for 1-2 years in GDatFW. I'll think about it for the sequel, though.

It was a little brutal... But I get that it's frustrating. Honestly, that was intentional on my part. Gideon is definitely an atypical main character. He's an introvert and has some issues because of what was done to him, but seeing how he copes with them is part of his story. Overcoming adversity is not a new theme in literature.

Obligatory self review :) This is a Harry Potter sequel that revolves around a new character, so it's more of a spinoff like Fantastic Beasts. It's a 50 chapter book with a beginning, middle and end, so I don't know if WebNovel is the right place to post it, but I'm interested to find out. The story is a slow burn mystery. I hope you guys like it!

Thanks for this! That's a fair point. Most of the original HP books start like that to some degree, though, and I was trying to mimic that style e.g. Dumbledore dropping off Harry after his parents death and Voldemort's defeat, The Riddle House, The Other Minister, Spinner's End. If that's not your thing, no worries. There are plenty of surprises to come!

Thanks for the feedback. It's certainly not an easy, happy-go-lucky read. It's supposed to make you emphasise with Gideon and root for him, and it kind of sounds like that's worked i.e. you want the best for him. I wasn't aiming to make a Harry clone. Gideon is his own person with his own obstacles to overcome. The story is 50 chapters in total and there's plenty more drama to come, but there are a lot of positive moments on the horizon, too, so I hope you'll stick it out.
