I think the problem with these types of fan-fics is that they do not scale the techniques to match it to the level of Douluo Dalu. They want to make everything insignificant so that they can boast about how amazing the techniques their MC cultivates. For example, we can see this even in DD2 as well. Electrolux, the necromancer world was viewed as not powerful when compared to Douluo Dalu. But in my personal opinion Divine Throne world is more powerful then basic Douluo Dalu. Even the top powerhouses of the Divine Throne are as powerful as Gods of DD. Just my opinion. But the setting of DD as well as the unique cultivation system of DD is what makes if my fav.

If you are not sure about the Rom in the novel, no need to force it. Forcing it will tilt the direction of the novel and many plots in the future. As I see you are going into the fighting/ruthless direction for the novel. If you can later in the story write salvation/redemption from the cruelty and bloodthirsty nature of the MC according to the direction you wish the story to progress. right now you can introduce a possible "love interest" but they stay as friend/acquaintance for now.

We already know there are realms in SL, so why not connect the MC's Martial Soul to a different realm where these demons come from/break their cage, and assist MC? Then you would not need to or have extra work for creating a back story from them in the SL continent. They would be just coming from a different realm. So no timeline changes are needed. He will be the first to connect to his realm. Similar to Yuanen Yehui's Fallen Angel MS.
