around this time, a little over 11 actually. I'm working on last chapter of book 1. and then I'll put in a time line for everything along with the interludes.
You're right about most animals being extinct. And there isn't much given on how Rebecca came across the aforementioned puppy. But given that it's being given such clear weight, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a runaway dog from a corpo home. (If I really have to theorize, and create a background from the dog; I'd go with a dog that's been neglected due to surmounting stress of the owner) Canonically, she cane across a dog, and had to stop and cuddle it; and in doing so, she garnered the attention of a group of passing scavs.
It's literally canon. She actually did find a puppy once. Source: Cyberpunk Wiki.
Issues with most of these things, apart from lack of money, is that Zain's inherently afraid of *all* tech that's on display around him. Cyberware is just the tip of the iceberg. Bioware is essentially serums, modified augmented muscle tissues grown in labs. He doesn't know what that chemicals will do to him. He's seen the most poverty ridden, ill managed examples of Cyberware and Bioware around him. Like faulty Cyberware on some poor idiot under the bridge, or a guy's cheap bioware causing erratic muscle spasms and other nonsense. Another example of Bioware in the ads he's seen are Mr. Stud and Midnight Lady. ...and there's enough cautionary tales in the streets of people's dick melting off due to over stimulation, or them being rendered impotent, or having acidic sperm. Same case for midnight lady. If you listen to chatter with the civs and joytoys in the Mox, you come across an ex Mox with a fault breast bioware that secreted apple juice instead of milk.... and well, she had faulty bioware if you scan her using optics. Dunno what that did to her, but well you get the idea.
I ... don't understand what you mean by 'Boku no Pico'd'. If that's eluding to NTR situation, or other degenerate non sense melodrama..... nope. Not the fic for it. I ...will focus more on larger scale, socio-economical issues, perhaps some geopolitics, gang politics, corporate feudalism and ultra corpo capitalist fascim that's leading to the rich "escaping" en masse. You know. The fun stuff. Arc one is introduction to Night City proper, setting up allies, understanding how the people live, what mercs, Edgerunners, fixers and crews are. Why they exist and all that.
Most of the jungles they talk about are in either in foreign land, like Johnny who'd been sent to Mexico. As for Mitch, Scorpion and the aldecaldo's they fought in the 4th Corporate War, which happened on American Soil You can consider that War as the final peg in the long list of wars that annihilated American landmass. The use of mass drivers, Nuclear Armaments, self replicating Robots and so much more basically killed what was left after the last three wars that happened.
It's fantasy magic chain mail. I figured it's durable against most thing, that go stabby stab stab. Well, apart from the most hyper advanced form of swords. So probably monomolecular swords and blade would slip through.
I wanted to avoid writing a hyper competent MC. Mainly because I wanted to show what Night City is really like for people, give a taste of its "charm" without any of the biases. Having the MC acquainted with the game or anime would have given him a major bias and I didn't want that. As for him being sheltered, yeah. He is massively sheltered, from an upper middle class family in modern day California. The idea is to make Night City break him, so that he can naturally become what the City needs. I wanted him to engage authentically with the setting. And to bring change, I needed him to experience the flaws of it. Currently, all he can be amounted to is a tourist. And tourists to any place don't care about the socio-economic flaws of the place they are visiting. After he breaks a little, he will have motivation to do something proactively.
That is actually not really true. Most of the vegetation you see in game, is a result of bio engineering from corpos like Biotechnica and others it's essentially creating a veneer of normality, but the farther you head out the vegetation quality, and quantity decreases. Large forested regions in the American Landmass are genuinely all gone.
Yeah, that's me! Glad you liked it!
