Well it technically wasn't a cursed technique, devils are naturally attuned to emotions tied to 'sins'. and cursed energy being the manifestation of negative emotions, i thought that him being a devil could give him an edge to being able to actually do it. and from how he was about to complete a domain Expansion which is supposed to take years of experience, to put it simply, it was plot and a lot of MC treatment to a side character.
