If it helps I feel Exlor has improved as a writer. Less chapters of monologs and more characters interacting to add that dynamic that the universe, dwarf universe and galaxy is all about Ves.

The definition of sci-fi is inclusive in the word (science and fiction). As long as The Mech Touch contains both elements (which it does), it meets the definition. I don't know what "more" you are expecting ... magic?, swords&sorcery... OK, technically a knight mech qualifies and some elements could be considered "magic", but I suspect the more you speak of is of a personal level. I don't think any of the novels on webnovel would be considered "classics" that are page turners from cover to cover. I guess it's an issue of personal taste. I confess I don't like books with systems, transmigration, reincarnation, Exlor limits the number of data sheet character stat updates to a few thousand chapters and its written more like milestone than the main focus of the story which is mechs, and the characters that design build and pilot them.

I have been following this story for several (5 or 6), years and I have recognize many other readers who also are loyal to this story. With this much momentum behind the story I think this may account for its high numbers.

While I would not have an issue with system, tranmigration etc. stories, I feel that almost ever novel i read on Webnovel is based on this theme. In addition, there are chapters that read like spreadsheets listing characters stats or new abilities over and over throughout the novel. That sad, this novel, and others written by this author are excellent reads. More creativity could means could have been applied to digitize or quantify characters abilities such as a video game both that scanned players for their virtual persona. You made a good point, and I for your information I don't read a majority of the novels past their introduction chapters due to the crutches employed, yet their are a few that are great reads despite this annoying practice. Thus I would never deny myself a good read. That you for the reply my friend. Enjoy the final days of 2025 and may you and your family have an enjoyable holiday season.

I understand the gist of your argument, consider… In most countries a person becomes a criminal because they are convicted of violating one or more laws. They rarely violate all the laws so technically they follow “some” laws. Typically a person charged with a criminal offence receives a punishment designed to prevent the criminal from reoffending. Fine, community service, restraining order, incarceration, mandatory rehabilitation, mutilation and death. Statistically people don’t reoffend, despite what fake news implies. Typically a person commits a crime due to opportunity. Most victims of crime implement one or more actions to reduce or eliminate the opportunities. While crime might be on the rise in your neighborhood, it can also be said policies were are are implemented all the time to prevent crime. Persons using data to support their argument that crime is on the rise, might be ignoring the fact that the population is also increasing, and new individuals might have violated the law for the first time. Certainly there are “career criminals” and they are under the scrutiny of your law enforcement or are so powerful that they can commit crimes in public. Sadly you can only hope that they come with an early explanation date because these people usually are writing the laws they’re ignoring.

As a Canadian, I am truly fortunate to live in a country where the law, social programs and economy create a balance that minimizes the need for deadly force to curb crime. Though I am familiar and have trained in and used firearms I have never owned any. Many rural Canadians (as I was growing up) own rifles and/or shotguns for hunting purposes. Almost all other firearms are illegal, though a large number of weapons are smuggled into Canada from the United States for use by criminals. I am not a world traveller, though my travel experience covers eastern North America, Central America, most Caribbean Islands, northern countries of South America and a few Central European countries. While I don’t feel unsafe in most places, Europe and Canada I felt the safest and encountered no obvious firearms or armed security guards during my travels. While I came closest to being pickpocketed in Italy, I thwarted their attempt (two teenage girls working together), I realized my naivety of carrying packages in both hands left me vulnerable. The encounter is actually one of my favorite stories. The country I feel least safe in might surprise you, it was the USA. My first experience with corrupt police was being ticketed for speeding 15 mph over the limit while in bumper to bumper traffic north of Milwaukee. I was forced to pay the fine in cash before continuing. The second incident was making a U-turn at a traffic light in Detroit. I was held at gun point while officers checked my license and registration. I was cordially released with a, “Have a nice day.” While visiting Washington DC, I spent the night in a Baltimore upscale hotel. This was the first time I checked in talking through 2.5cm glass with a security guard in bulletproof vest and automatic weapons. I suspect the bellhop was carrying a concealed handgun but that’s just a guess. I have attended robotic training seminars in the USA, in which students carried handguns and/or had them in their vehicles or lockers. One of our American Facilities employees in Cleveland was robbed at gunpoint, thankfully nobody was hurt. Our Mexican and Canadian facilities to date remain safe workplaces. While the USA has stronger laws, it has weak social programs and an economy vast gap between wealthy (1%) and poor. They also have a belief in gun ownership, laws such as, “Stand Your Ground” and “The Castle Law”. On a Caribbean cruise, dining with some guests from Texas who commented that they owned multiple firearms for protection because they didn’t feel safe. I replied, “I’m a complete stranger, and we’re visiting several countries that you have booked excursions… do you feel safe?”. Their response, “Absolutely, because nobody is allowed to bring firearms onto the cruise ship!” Naturally they stated that the United States of America would never get rid of firearms… because criminals would still find a means of keeping their firearms.

If I can offer any advice from my work experience, it would be to not fear to embrace change. With the implementation of AI, and possibly super intelligent software, your future might depend on how quickly you adapt. The first people to lead are the pioneers... create through the programs you write.
