I am surprised that he did not spend more time thinking of the friends, family, or other people he may have left behind. I also wonder about other things he might miss like his identity. I would have thought a bit about keeping his wallet somewhere safe or his cell phone or even doing something with his body.

I agree. I first read this at Royal Road many years ago under a different title and author's name. I hope this is the same author but the way things are nowadays I doubt it is. For anyone interested, the original title was "The administrator" by Nerodith. It only went up to chapter 44 or so before it was put on hiatus.

It bothers me the end of the encounter of the little girl was skipped over. She never gave any kind of response to his question. We do not know if she ignored him, gave an answer, was hostile towards his question, etc. He just asked the question and the next thing we know is he went home.
