1 Introduction

A gentle breeze swept over the world. A harsh, quiet seemed to surround the barren planet. Of course, this Earth was so much different from our own. Society had developed far past the minds of the present souls. No longer were there such things like families or parents. No longer were such things like marriage or relationships. No longer were there anything like feelings, crushes, or, rather, love. How could there be when the world had split in two? It had been divided since it could have remembered.

The two, male and female, had pushed farther away from the other until finally they could not fathom the thought of existing with the other. The females huddled in groups watching the males with sharp eyes and upturned noses, snickering at their incompetence. The males clustered together, glaring at the females and muttering harsh insults under their breaths that would have reduced anyone to tears. Such hostility developed that a barrier was established to divide the two genders. This barrier was constructed by the Laboratories, the mediator between the cats and the dogs.

Such was the current time, the sleek and glass-like barrier stood proud and tall as the two gazed at each other with such contempt and loathing that one could not understand what had caused such enmity. So, with a final glance, the two turned their backs and spread out across their halves of the planet, avoiding the long barrier, the symbol of their hate.

What had the Laboratories thought that a barrier would accomplish? Maybe stop a war? But even wars come to an end. So, why? Nobody knew. Maybe they were waiting for something. Or maybe they were waiting for someone. Someone to teach the world to love again. Someone to show the world the light. Someone to be the light. But, how long until the awaited someone would arise?
