Chapter Four

"Hello, I would like to file a report of a situation to child protective services..."

I said into the communicator, reclining on the sofa, adding a few final touches to the third layer of strengthening runes.

I heard the intake of breath and an exhale before the one on the other side of the line responded.

[What's this about, Sentinel?]

I turned the magic circle above my palm, observing it absently.

"You want to know what this is about, Bat? I know you're not the greatest parent and all, but come on, put in some fucking effort."

I scowled.

"Superboy, you duche-bag, contact Superman and get the two to talk or I will drag his underwear on the outside wearing ass here, bound in magical chains, and hold him to a metaphorical gunpoint."

There was silence on the line before Batman finally responded.

[... I'll relay the message...]

I smiled and finished up the final touches on the magic circle.

"Why thank you, I'm glad we could come to an understanding."

The line went dead and I hummed, starting with the seventh magic circle of the day.

"That was awfully nice of you..."

I glanced to the side as the outside containment sphere and the inside strengthening sphere formed, spotting Robin, leaning against the backrest of the couch.

"I just threatened the world's greatest detective that I would allegedly kidnap the strongest member of the team of people that protect the earth, and there was nothing either of them could do about it..."

I grinned.

"The best part is, he knows I can do it, he just doesn't know when."

He just sighed, the goody two shoes that he was. It wouldn't be long until he realized that he wasn't Batman, he would never be Batman.

That man is insane...

"Anyway, Black Canary is here for team training."

Oh, this was perfect, one more person to make fun of. I floated up from the sofa and walked next to Robin, grabbing him by the scruff of his neck and lifting him up.

"The hell? Let me go!"

Ignoring him, I started walking to the room that was used for training, with the twerp in my grasp.

___

"You know, I'm just now realizing... Okay, no I'm not, but you guys suck at teaching a team."

I deadpanned, watching Black Canary train with Kaldur.

"What do you mean?"

I looked to the side, seeing Miss Martian gazing at me with curiosity in her eyes.

I sigh, tapping Superboy on the shoulder with my cane. He looked over to me and I pointed at the training ring, getting a raised eyebrow in response.

"Let's spar after this?"

He frowned.

"Are you sure?"

I chuckled at his concern, letting the cane float in the air, taking off my coat, and putting it on the floating stick, along with my top hat just in time for Dinah to put Kaldur on his ass.

"Oh? Are you joining us?"

Dinah looked at me with a smile that I ignored, she had this idea in her head that I needed therapy, I did, but still, I wasn't very pleased at being psychoanalised.

"Nope, you're leaving the ring, I got a teenager with superpowers to train."

She raised an eyebrow at me, crossing her arms.

"I can do that just fine."

I raised an eyebrow at her, though on my illusion, a single eye hole widened to indicate my facial expression.

"No, no you can't, you can teach technique, but not how to control powers, the one that should be doing that, is not here, which I'm solving."

I waved her away and she sighed, walking off the training ring and letting me have the stage.

Turning around, I eyed superbly walking on the training field and the computer registered us.

"Don't hold back."

I smiled at him as magic circles slid up my hand for a moment before disappearing. He raised an eyebrow in curiosity and raised his hands up in a vague resemblance of a boxing stance.

I hummed, eyeing him up and down, the same style Superman uses, but unlike Superman, his body structure did not support the style... Let's be honest, superman sucked at hand-to-hand combat.

That needed fixing.

He charged at me, rearing back a fist in a telegraphed punch. I sighed and raised my palm as the punch connected. And it, as expected did nothing.

Gripping his fist, I pull him forward, my knee coming up to ram into her abdomen. Right before contact, a magic circle flashed above my knee and sent him flying into the wall.

"Winner: Sentinel."

I hummed, ignoring the computer's call out.

"Again."

I spoke simply, brushing off my button-up shirt and loosening my tie.

Superboy raised his head, looking at me with bewilderment as he clutched at his abdomen.

"You can't fly, you can't shoot lasers out of your eyes, so until you can, I will make you the best there is at hand-to-hand combat."

He frowned as he got up, still wincing from the pain.

"What you you mean, "until I can"?"

He asked, walking back to the field and resetting the spar function of the computer.

"Well, lets say, you need some sunlight, but even if it does not work, I can fix your flight problem, however, you gotta work for it."

I beckoned him to come at me.

"So put in some effort, and I'll help you reach the sky."
