In the Beginning

In the beginning, two kingdoms fought a mighty war, much blood was spilled, villages plundered, women and children kidnapped or killed, homes burned. Over time many forgot what they were fighting for, or what even started the war. But the history books say each kingdom wanted the others land. The long fierce war was named the War of Two Kings. Even though heavy casualties were common among both sides, the two kingdoms fought with every last possible warrior they could find. The war lasted twenty years, until one day it stopped, and word of a treaty reached the far corners of both kingdoms. In a last effort to end the war each king gave away their oldest child, to the other. Princess Alexandrea Sophie of Kian and Prince Roman Zythanx of Dianx where to be wed together forever binding the kingdoms as one. Now after the wedding the new King and Queen renamed their kingdom Ashier in hopes to show the people they bring new times of joy and prosperity after a horrible war. Three castles where built one for the Kian family on the western coast on the cliffs of Maldor, a castle in the mountains of Dria for the Dianx family to live, and the biggest most beautiful castle at the heart of Ashier for the King, Queen, and the royal court. After the War of Two Kings, the entire kingdom was suffering, many women had been widowed, homes burned, livestock lost, and hopes gone. Many villages had shortages of food and water, so the King and Queen built new cities surrounding the three new castles and encouraged people to move leaving behind anything other than clothes, food, money, and any other items of importance. While many people moved to these cities, many other small villages grew and prospered. During what people called the Transition Period, the kingdom prospered and expanded, over hundreds of years Ashier became renowned for its advancements in technology, science, agriculture, and weaponry. After many years of prosperity people began to forget about the horrible war that tainted the kingdoms history. But outside of the royal courts know one knowns how their King and Queen are chosen. As soon as the King and Queen die, the two eldest children from both families a boy and a girl would be wed together and become the next King and Queen. The two children are chosen from birth, the oldest girl from the Kian side and the oldest boy on the Dianx side. And as soon as the children learn to read and write, they begin learning about politics, history, etiquette, social studies, trade, and foreign relations. For those two young children, they get no choice, the moment they where born destiny took hold, and they where destined to be royality.
