"Pacing isn't going to make time pass any faster, you know," Jax said.

I stopped and glared at him. He sat on the couch, an open book on his lap, though I doubted he was actually reading any of the words on the page. But every so often, he'd flip the page and sigh.

"And pretending to read will?" I crossed my arms and raised a brow.

He laughed, closed the book, and set the hardcover tome on the coffee table. "No, but if I get up and move around, I'm going to want to take action, and we can't do that. Not yet."

I sighed and dropped my arms to my sides. "I know. The waiting sucks though."

"Tell me about." He held out his hand and motioned for me to join him on the couch.

I shuffled toward him and flopped down on the couch. He wrapped his arm around me, tucked me safely against his side, and I rested my head on his shoulder. He kissed my forehead, and this time I sighed with contentment.
