Chapter 1 [Hope Anew] (Page 22)

The prophecy of The Rising Phoenix was already in motion a generation before the Fall. Although it was mostly ignored as no one really saw the Void as a threat so only a few kingdoms made preparations. It was given by a well known Prophet named Crystal who was a human vessel for the Goddess of light and crystals, Irina.

This prophet was said to be immortal only till the chosen one rises into the spotlight. Although she was a vessel she knows nothing much of herself and the world which she watches through a window. The thing most clear to her was her duty to teach the forgotten descendent of the king of Ancients Exousía.

Although nothing much is known about her as only a few selected people are able to meet her. I gazed up from the book spectating the carnival the shadows were having as they paraded across the walls. I wondered how much time had passed since I started reading, my eyes wandered over to Sora who had the book over her face.

It seemed that she dozed off while reading the book considering the soft sounds of snoring. I smiled at the sight and got off my bed walking to her bedside, I snuffed out the candle on her nightstand with a breath. I took the book off her face and bookmarked it before placing it on the nightstand. I gently lifted her head up and slid a pillow under her head before pulling the blanket over her. She curled up more in her sleep, hands under her head as she seemed to smile ever so slightly.

I turned and walked over to the door pushing it open to look outside, seeing and hearing nothing I went back into the room gently shutting the door behind my back. I walked over to my bed and bookmarked the book before placing it on the desk sitting down and waiting for food to be called. All the while a soft melodic tune was playing in the back of my mind, a song my mother sang often about hope and the dreams which we chase.

I hummed along to the tune of the melody, drifting off into a sleep lying on the bed as silence and serenity enveloped me. After a few moments I felt someone shaking my shoulders waking me up I groaned as I stirred from my nap sitting up. The person tugged me on my hand "Come on, foods ready for real this time" Shadow said.

I open my eyes and looked at him "It better be" I grumbled sitting up and getting out of bed and looking to Sora who was still asleep then back at him. He had a mischievous smile painted across his face, he took out a small rock of his jacket and lobbed it towards Sora.

"Ow!" She yelped out bolting upright looking at the stone beside her pillow then to the two of us glaring daggers. She picked up the stone "Alright, who threw this?" She queried with her gaze towards Shadow mostly.

He patted my back saying "Well gotta bounce" with that he took off running out of the door with a hand over his hood laughing.

"Get back here this instant!" She shrieked out cashing after him waving her fists running after him in her socks tossing the stone at him which he dodged.

"Missed me! Think you need to get better at aiming!" He teased at her as the two of them barreled through the corridors. I sigh, shaking my head smiling, putting on my shoes and picking up her pair and walked out into the hallway. I could see Star up ahead and made note of that so as to not walk into her by accident due to her short height.
