Chapter 1It turns out, I might be a villain

"You were disposed of by the project... ahaha, you're literally trash~!"

With a despicable look on her face, the putrid, middle-aged woman looked down at me as if she was a god. Twirling her finger around disgustingly, she lightly tapped me right on the nose. Her ugly, over-decorated fingernail dug itself ever-so-slightly into the tip of my nostrils.

She saw it fit to make fun of me since I was sitting alone, huddling beside a small park bench. I guess she forgot that I still had my weapon with me. Well, by weapon, I mean my fists.

"Why don't you come with me? Little rat, I'm sure I can find a sewer for you to live in."

"That's a decent insult, but I'm afraid that a cornered rat still has its teeth."

"What did you just say to me?! You're hilarious!"

Gathering saliva in her mouth, she made a pig-like face before splashing me with her revolting spit. I looked up at her.

"Did you not hear what I just said."

Wiping some of the salivae away from my eyes, I slowly pulled myself up.

"Where do you think you're going? No one wants you~ Still, you don't look too bad. Maybe I'll keep you in my special room~" she snickered.

"I'll have to pass."

"Huh? Did I ask you? Hahaha, do you really think you have a say in any of this? I could kill you right here right now, and no one would even bat an eye~"

I reached out and grabbed her by the collar.

"What do you think you're doing~ You do realise you're touching the wife of one of the most powerful men in this city. I could get you executed for just touching me."

"That's if they can catch me."

"Haha, you think you can be cocky to me?"

She raised her hand, poised to slap me in the face.

I quickly grabbed her wrist.

"Let go of me, you piece of shit! Fucking let go of me this instant."

I looked down at her.

"You know. I could kill you right now."

"I'd like to see you try. If you dare to hit me, you won't see the light of day!"

"Still, that's not stopping me from killing you right now."

Pulling her over, I slammed her into the ground. Water, mixed with mud and garbage, splashed everywhere, staining the wall of the building. Her hair was instantly strewn across the ground as she helplessly tried to pull herself up. She screamed.

"Ahh! You fucking bitch! I'm going to kill you if it's the last fucking thing I do. I'll torture you until you wish you were dead!"

Raising my leg, I kicked her in the stomach. She squirmed around like a little worm as she cried out in pain. It was obvious that a spoilt, entitled lady like her had never felt so much pain in her life. She rolled up into a ball, hugging her knees into her body. Water was spreading everywhere as her clothes soaked up all the various liquids on the ground.

"...you fucking... you're not going to get... away with this...!"

I squatted down and grabbed her by the hair. Pulling her head toward me, her truly pitiful, embarrassing expression. Someone who had never experienced hardship before would never understand what I went through. I guess this is but a sneak peek of what I felt.

Smashing her head into the ground, I could hear the subtle crunching of the cartilage in her nose. Like a gentle current, red liquid streamed out of her nostrils. She constantly screamed and shouted out, but no one was close enough to hear her cries.

"Ah, that's a better look for you."

"S-stop... let... me... go..."

I guess she's had a change of heart. Instead of insulting me, she's changed to begging for her life. Well, I wasn't quite finished yet.

Pulling up her face once more, I rolled my hand into a fist.

Thump. My knuckles crashed into her face.

"...w-wait... I'm... sorry... please..."

Thump. My knuckles crashed into her face again.

"...ugh... hold... I... really... sorry..."

Thump. My knuckles crashed into her face.

"...ugh... ugh... stop..."

I could tell that her body was slowly giving up. Her face had completely changed shape. From the elegant, thick makeup she had at the beginning to a contorted, dirty and broken mess, she looked like a different person. Her limbs were limp. She was no longer fighting back in any way.

I let go of her hair, letting her face slam into the wet, soiled ground.

Ah, shoot, I have to get out of here.

Looking around, I searched for the most discreet way to flee the scene. There were a few alleyways nearby, so I might be able to escape through them. Running barefoot along the moist asphalt road, I rushed to the dark alley. The sun had already set, meaning there wasn't much light illuminating my path.

Maybe I shouldn't have sacrificed myself protecting that young girl from the project. Life out here seems difficult. At this rate, I'll be dead as soon as someone finds me.

Dashing through the alley under the cover of the night, I tried to get as far away as I could. However, I could already hear the footsteps of the National Police Organisation on my tail. It looked like this was just about the end of me.

I sprinted as hard as I could, but there was no chance I was going to be able to put up a fight against them. Finding myself cornered at the edge of the street, I was surrounded by every angle.

Ah, I guess I'll pull out my knife for one last fight.

Suddenly, I heard a lady call out at me from a passing car. Unexpectedly, it stopped right beside me.

"Get in. You're being chased, aren't you? I'll give you a second chance. Come with me."

I wasn't really in the mental state to analyse the situation. I was going to die if the NPO caught up with me.

I guess I had no choice.

With her help, I was able to get into the car.

"Young boy, what's your name?"

"Oliver..."

"I know what you did during the Ideal Human Project. I'm not going to say whether it was right or wrong, but it was a choice which could be commended."

"It was a mistake."

"Don't say that. Forget about the past. I'll show you the path to a new life... Call me Headmaster."

At that time, I couldn't quite distinguish her face.

Ashes Of Deep Sea

Duncan Abnomar was transmigrated to a magical world. Most of the lands of the world had sunken, and the surviving humans could only live on islands. Due to an unknown reason, the world was also contaminated and strange phenomena and things would randomly appear. Humans had developed steam gear technology, and the islands were connected through boats. They survived by studying strange phenomena that happened all around the world. However, as the captain of a scary-looking ghost ship, Duncan was facing a huge challenge. "How the heck do I steer this ship?" Highly recommended by experienced editor: MC is transmigrated to a world mostly covered in water and far from civilization. He becomes the captain of the ghost ship, the 'Homeloss'. He steers through the fog and adventures through the broken world and the unknown deep sea. As he discovers the ruins of abandoned civilization, he would also stumble into the war between the strange phenomena and the devil gods. The story takes place in a combination of ocean and Chutly mythology world, a new and interesting background. It’s an attractive story to read due to the author’s sense of humor and mastery over the ambiance of the story. --------------- Another-style introduction: "On that day, a thick fog engulfed everything. On that day, he became the captain of a ghost ship. On that day, he crossed the dense fog and faced a completely overturned and shattered world – the former order was completely gone, and peculiar phenomena dominated the endless seas beyond civilized society. The island city-states and the fleets challenging the sea have become the only lights of civilization left, while the shadows of old days still lurk in the deep sea, waiting to devour this dying world again. But for the new captain, there's only one pressing question – Does anyone know how to sail this damn ship?!"
