chapter 1 LIFE AS AN ORPHAN

A new day has started with many hustling and busting in a small country town. different people all coming out from their houses to face another day of survival. the place is already busy with men and women going up and down.

the sun shone into her small hut that she shares with her brother while she walks to wake her brother from sleep. justin wake up you are going to be late for school.

justin leave me alone I want to sleep

a bit I will soon stand up

Mitchell wake up now I am leaving to

work cos I dont want to be late

and u know I need to walk

down a long distance before I

get to work

justin okay okay am up, are you

happy now.

justin stands up and lazily walks to the bathroom to take his bath which was done in about 10 minutes. he walks back to his room to prepare for school. he opens the wardrobe but he doesn't know what to wear and he is sad. he decided to wear a polo mitchell bought for him some days ago . he views himself in the mirror and smiles. even if his parents are not there he has mitchell with him as both parents and he has promised to be good in school to become someone and take care of his beloved sister whom he loves so much. he takes his bag and walks out of his room but heard Mitchell out his name

am going to work now...your food is in the kitchen. try and go to school on time.. love you

Mitchell said this and hurriedly walks out she was already late because she still needs to walk a long distance to work and she doesn't have money to spare to take bus. she couldn't eat her breakfast before leaving so she took it in a small box. she will eat when she gets to work. she was walking and thinking of the life ahead of her and justin. she remembered when her parents died. she went to school that dat when she came back from school she did not see her parents at home just then she received a call that her parents were involved in an accident, she couldn't cry as she rushed to the hospital. she saw her parents in a critical condition and doctors and nurses where all running up and down. just then one of the doctors came to her and asked her who she was to them she said they were her parents then the doctors told her to be strong that they just lost her dad but they are trying to revive her mum. she broke down immediately and cried. her world was crushing before her eyes. she cried through out dat day and later in the evening she also lost her mum and that was the beginning of her life as an orphan. she had to stop school so she could work and support her younger brother to school

she suddenly heard someone shouting then she realised she was about crossing the road without even knowing a car was driving towards her. she apologised to the man and quickly rushed over without looking back at the man who was raining her with insults. she looked at her watch she was already late for work so she started walking fast and also praying for her boss to be late as well.

she finally reached work and was scared because she was so late already she didnt know what to do as she prepared herself to face the boss. she entered but didnt see any one so she quickly rushed to do some cleaning

Mitchell.....she heard her name and paused.
