Trapped in My Mind

"You can't escape little one this is all you will ever know..."

I can feel the anger in his whispering voice. Crying I try to break the chains around my hands and feet. No one dared to help for fear of what he would do to them.

"And I was so kind to you. Oh well next time maybe you'll listen."

he said laughing. Laughing. That laugh could make a grown man cower like a child getting scolded by his mother.

That laughing that made me want to scream. made me want to...to what?'

Waking up with the bright sun in my eyes. Not the best way to wake up, but better than what is was like before. Shuddering at the thought, I quickly get dressed and make breakfast. Having a normal job is alot harder than I imagined, but then, what did I expect.

"bark! bark!"

The neighbour's dogs at it again, must have been the bacon. I never knew what is was like to have neighbours until a year ago... but if I keep this up I will be late and I'd rather not have to deal with Sarah's screaching first thing in the morning. Gathering up my things I head to work. It was just a normal desk job but none the less a job and fresh start at life, Well, what's left of it.

"Mara!"

I know that yell anywhere turning around I see a orange haired woman about 5'6 running my way "Emily." I call out

"Hey...huff...couldn't you...huff...have waited a little longer?"

"Waited? Emily you live two blocks away from work. You could have come here and waited for me if you had gotten up on time." I know this girl to well, if she is here that can mean two things. One, she stayed up all night watching tv and eating food ,or two, She stayed at the office because she was to lazy to go home and went to change this morning.

"Yeah well, there was a new show on last night it was only going to show at eleven."

I knew it.

"Don't worry tomorrow it start airing at nine instead."

"Why the change in timing?" If this show is going on at nine my favorite show will most likely will change to ten and I wanted that extra half hour of sleep.

"It got really great reviews so they want to change the timing. I'm sorry I know your show was on at nine."

"It's alright. Isn't like you changed the timings."

"But you should really watch it. It's about that thief you know the one called Silence?"

That name brings up some memories. "Yes. The one who died in the explosion" "Yeah! In the show she's shown as mute who started her criminal career as an act of revenge against her father's murder."

Well credit for originality, that wasnt even remotely what happened.

"Yeah? maybe I will. But right now we need to get to work. Other wise we're going to get an earfull from Sarah"

"I know..." Emily groaned rolling her eyes

"It really doesn't matter any way. We get yelled at no matter even if we're on time."

"Still better to put in the effort so we can keep our jobs for at least a few more months than if we dont."

"True."

Starts commiting crimes in revenge, huh? I know better than anyone that's not what really went on in her head.

"Mara!"

Why was Emily's voice filled with fear when she said that?

looking behind me I realize why. A man carrying about seven large, boxes was walking right behind me, and if I didn't move we were both going to end up on the ground. And I doubted the boxes were going get out of it unscathed as well.

Quickley turning right I try walking out of the way, but with the side walk so full it looks like I'm destined to end up with bruise tommorrow. Might as well save as many boxes as I can.
