"It won't take many days for the message to reach the emperor of Jin," XueYa said, looking over the map spread on the table.
The distance between Jin and Qiu took only a few days of travel by horse. A river that formed the entire east border separated the two countries, ending where the river opened into the ocean.
The terrain was level and easy to travel on. Few hills obstructed their way there. It was too smooth, XueYa thought.
Too much visibility led to vulnerability on their side. The surprise attack would be almost impossible to orchestrate if the enemy could see them coming from miles away.
XueYa had one shot in catching Le Rong. If he miss-calculated, Le Rong would flee back to the sorcerer's community. Once the high council of sorcerers heard of XueYa's meddling with Le Rong's dragon hunting, his and everybody else's heads would be under a bounty.
