XueYa evaded the snapping jaws and darted out of the room after drawing incantations over the walls with his ink brush.

The dragon glided inside the bedchamber, coiling and turning its body, knocking over tables and rubbing against the pillars.

"What-" Zhi ChangNing had arrived at the yard at the same time as madam She and master She dragged a struggling LiangLin away. Her jaw dropped as she saw QingYu wrapped in a blanket, standing bare feet behind XueYa. "What is going on?"

"YaYun shifted!" XueYa said with glee as he snapped his fingers, and the incantations glowed like green flames against the starry night sky, creating a magical net-like barrier over and around the house, keeping YaYun imprisoned within the room.

"But, why, how-"

"He bonded with his soulmate," XueYa said as the dragon's body shook the foundations of the house.

ChangNing side-eyed the blushing QingYu. "I… see."
