Resting

Kiro opened his eyes again around noon. He couldn't remember a time he'd slept this late. He'd been unconscious a lot lately though. Maybe he should take it easy for a little while. He looked around the room he got board so he left to look around.

"Good morning, Kiro." Jeya smiled then looked thoughtful. "Do you still say that when it's not morning but some one just woke up?"

"Finally awake, Master!" Toma ran over and run up him to his shoulder where he curled into Kiro's neck.

"How's the Spirit Elder?" Kiro asked sitting down at a table next to a window. The meadow was always so vibrant and beautiful.

"Better and better every moment. You really did have a lot of mana, Kiro. Sorry we took it." Toma lowered his ears and licked Kiro's cheek.

"Haha, stop it, Toma. That tickles. Besides, I wasn't usingvthe mana anyway. Now I can learn magic with a little mana building up at a time." Kiro rubbed Toma's head and pulled him from his shoulders and into his arms where he curled and layed down.

"You two are really close." Jeya observed.

"Well, Toma's been with me since I first got here. I don't know what I'd do without him." Kiro hugged Toma close.

"Since you got here?" Jeya tilted her head and couldn't help but notice how feathery her hair was.

"Long story, it's nothing. So, how long have you two been with the Spirit Elder?" Kiro asked changing the topic.

"Let's see... I think about seven hundred years? Or is it eight hundred now..." Leya thought for a moment. "Seven hundred ninety-six. Jun had just started molting for the first time. I was always a faster bloomer than him.

Kiro watched her laugh as she thought about the past. He was honestly still a little ahocked about the whole seven hundred thing. So many creatures here had such long life spans. He wondered how humans kept up.

"How long do you think it will take Aren to get to Haverest?" Kiro asked still lightly petting Toma. His arms were getting tired, but he couldn't move now that Toma had fallen asleep.

"She's a dragon and a pretty fast flyer from what I saw so... It'll take her only a few hours to get there. About five at the most." Jeya looked up as Jun came in.

"Time to switch." Jun smiled at Kiro as Jeya left to watch the Spirit Elder.

"You two have been taking turns keeping an eye on him? That's so thoughtful." Kiro slid some food over to the tired Loliry.

"He's done so much for us. It's the least we can do to try to pay him back." Jun ate the food and left to get some sleep. Kiro sat alone with his thoughts as his arm slowly fell asleep from Toma's weight. He'd have been fine if he'd just let him sleep on his shoulders. Kiro smiled to himself. He always got himself in the strangest predicaments.
