Fear

Even though I use all these words like beast cores hunter ID in reality I know nothing about them I've never even seen a beast core I just really learned about hunter ID's I only learned minimal information about them before which I used to my advantage in getting the vendor owner to lend me this gun because to him it's seems like I know what I'm talking about

"Haahh I really don't even know how much can be made from certain beasts this will also be my first time encountering one but still I have to do it"shins face becomes relaxed and resolved as he walks through the slums

"To become strong"

There are a total of two lost districts connected to district 6 this would be 7 and 8 both of these districts were lost two years ago when a army of beasts appeared out of nowhere usually beasts don't form up into groups but these ones did they took two districts and ever since we haven't gotten them back since the SCF ignores our district

District 8 is closer to the outer world we call this anywhere not in protection of the cities so you can call the cities the inner world since district 7 is closer and beasts are killed often it's less dangerous because their are lest beasts but also I've heard weaker beasts inhabit district 7 compared to eight and to get to eight anyway you would have to go through 7 theirs no point in going to 8 unless I'm looking for a place to die

Shin was standing in front a large gate with a group of men and women standing next to it looked like they were hunters their equipment looked pretty expensive as well

"Hey Vax seriously shouldn't we head in now" a woman they looked to be in her 20's said to a large man to the side of her in total the group consisted of 5 people

"Just wait a second they should be coming any minute now"

Shin began to walk forward to the gate as he was about to he suddenly felt something as he slightly moved his shoulder dodging a hand from the large man from earlier

"Hey kid what are you doing going in alone with those rags and that busted up pistol but nice reflexes though"

"Thanks but I've got some money to make so I'm gonna go"Vax looked at the boy and didn't see a tag on his neck

I was thinking about bringing the kid with us since we don't have our sixth but he isn't even a hunter kids wasting his time

I began to walk forward into hallway of the large gate seeing a man at a desk looking at me enter the room

"First time"? The old man said as he got up out of his seat

"Yeah" shin said a little nervous

"Alright then a few rules if you die it's not our fault for letting you out and that's it" the old man said with smile

"Ehh that's it"

"Yeah now hurry up" the guard began to open up the gate

Shin could see it a bunch of buildings that looked like ruins from countless battles that had taken place here but the gate was beginning to shut Shin quickly ran out of the gate As he did it shut behind him and he was now in a dark room as mechanical noises began to fill the room sounds of gears moving and cranking paraded his ears as the black room subddenly opened up and became two walls and went back into the huge gate

"They really are safe about this stuff but I guess it only makes sense" if they weren't district 6 would already be lost

"Screeeeeech"a loud inhuman sound echoed through the entire area it brought fear into shins heart and made him realize just where he was as he looked back one more time on the gate he looked at the huge number 7

"24 shots this is the moment that decides whether I make it or not "

"If I die here it just means I wasn't meant to be strong"Shin began to slowly walk forward with both his hands tightly gripped on his mk2 handgun while his eyes looked for any signs of movement but he saw none seeing no beasts or hearing none didn't let his mind rest with every step he had spent 40 seconds searching for the beasts that would attack him

Shin had only moved 10 feet away from the gate

"I'm weak" he said as his body fell to the floor and his knees hit the ground

"Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"he quickly moved his body as if he was possessed as he got up and began to sprint towards the broken buildings

"I just have to kill you before you kill me!!!!!"he did it he made it to the buildings even though it was such a simple thing for shin it meant he had gotten stronger

Slowly but surely he started moving at a decent pace covering the area of the entire building eventually his fear was gone as he slowly walked through the ruins to the next building he heard a few shots ring out in his ears

"Bang bang"the sound echoed through the ruins

A young man and one other boy ran through the ruins dodging falling pieces of the broken buildings as they let shots out at a beast which looked like a dog with its head spilt in two and sharp canines

"Dammit why won't it just give up" he let more shots ring out as he and the other hunter tried to lose the beast hiding behind a wall for cover as his palm slightly lit up while the other boy shivered in fear

"Dammit I should of never came here we're gonna die what the fuck were you thinking it's all your fault"

"Shut the fuck up it might hear us do you want to live or not"The boy said with angry while putting his fingers on his mouth telling the boy to be quiet

"Listen I'm going to use all my power to blast that thing when I do I need you to just unload your clip I'm sure for a second I can at least stun it"

"Alright if it doesn't die don't expect me to keep fighting I'm running with or without you" as he said this they heard the ground slightly move as rocks began to be crushed under the beast as it walked towards the wall as it licked it's lips it quickly jumped at the wall finding nobody

"Skissh" something went across the floor the beast quickly turned its head to the right seeing a gun"

As it did from the corner of it's eye it saw a boy bringing his hand up to its belly as a large gust of wind came out Hitting the beast right in its stomach as it was pushed back then shots barraged it from the back where it had just checked a boy appeared out of thin air as his skin changed colors Like a chameleon

Pieces of flesh flew off the beasts back as it fell to the ground but suddenly a look of horror came over the boys face as the gun made a clicking sound The other boy quickly ran and jumped at the weapon he had thrown as a distraction with his ability but as he got his hands on it the best jumped at him biting the gun in his hand trying to get to the boy they both were struggling to overpower the other as a long tongue came out with a small blade at the tip of its tongue quickly darted at the boys throat

A bullet flew by the monsters head hitting the building to the side of them the second had hit the beats right in its head as it flew off the boy making a yelping sound as half of its face turned to mush leaving only one eye left

The beast quickly ran to where the bullet came from as it saw a boy with white hair and red eyes staring it straight in its eyes he let a few more shots out as the beasts flesh flew everywhere and the other boy that was on the ground did the same for about 5 seconds until it stopped moving

the boy who was pushed to the ground by the beast slowly came over to shin

"Thanks man I would be dead right now if you didn't step in" the boy at around 180cm with red hair said holding out his hand to greet shin

"Yeah no problem"shin immediately looked at his gun and pulled out the clip to see how much ammo he used

"5 bullets I only have 5 more chances" shin said after he had killed one he realized this wasn't enough and especially with his skills currently he even missed the first shot on the beasts when it was completely still about 30 feet away

"Is it dead can we really be sure" a boy called out while he was cowering behind his friend as his skin began to change colors"

"Shut up quit being a wuss" the other boy said pushing the other boy off him

"Well my name is Ian and this is Lang I can tell your not in a position to help us and you need money to so how about we all spilt it and I let you get the contribution points" Ian said while pointing to his hunter ID with the number 2 on it

"Oh wait your not a hunter why are you out here then you know you can't get money from beast core exchange unless your a hunter right"Ian said noticing that shin had no tag

"It's a long time and my names shin I'm a hunter but I had to leave my tag back in the district"

"Well nice to meet you shin let's get the duck out of here before another one comes"

"Agreed"

Before they left Ian had carved out a small stone with no color from the beast which was it's core

On the way back shin explained his situation with the others Lang didn't care at all about buying weapons that might get him killed but Ian looked interested

They got back to the gate to get back in and walked back to the slums where the vendor was

"Ohh I see you brought some friends this time I hope your not planning on robbing me"the man said as a joke but it also seemed like he was being serious

"No I'm here to return the gun for my hunter tag" he pointed at his tag which he could see was still on the table

"Well okay just let me see the beast core and I can give it to you"

"Do you mind"he looked at Ian and he seemed like he was okay with it as shin pulled it out

"Wow you really did it you really killed a heart good job kid you better pay me in full as he threw the rage and shin gave him back the gun"

"Hey can I see your weapons"Ian said before they left he looked around a little seeing the price range on each weapon before leaving

They began to walk through the slums as shin asked Ian a question what do you mean by contribution points?

"Oh that you see my hunter ID it's got the number 2 on it because I've made contribution points by turning in beast cores but you can also earn some from doing hunter agency requests"

"They don't give weak hunters like us those requests though"

"But man really I was surprised at how cheap those weapons were seriously it's a good deal you got lucky"

"I didn't know if it was really good deal at the time or not but I guess I might if I'm just glad that it worked out speaking of money how much do you think this will go for"shin said hoping that the number was big

"I've never killed that type of beasts before so I don't really know if I'm being honest"Ian said my scratching his head

They arrived at the hunters agency where a women at a desk was sitting flipping through multiple pages and writing down information

"Hey we would like to turn in this beast core they put it on the desk it"the lady had seen all three of these boys before besides the small one in the back who was Lang at 167cm

He really did it even boys can survive out there as a hunter with a little luck

"Yes just one second she moved the beast core tray in through the glass as she began to inspect it and the tray came back out with voum

"For this core you'll be receiving 2450 voum and 8 contribution points which would put you at hunter rank 2 if your the one receiving these shin" shins face lit up at the amount for a second but he realized he's about 100 voum short of what he needed if they spilt in 3 ways

"Uh yes I'll be receiving the contribution points"she looked to the other boys for confirmation that they were in agreement with this and they also nodded at this

"Okay then let me get you hunter ID"shin gave it to her as she used a small machine to remove the number 1 and put the number 2 a few sparks flew off of the metal tag as she did

"Well it's all done here you go"she handed him back the hot tag which transferred its heat to his hand

"We would like to thank you for achieving your rank up and we hope you will work with us more to show our gratitude you will receive an additional award of 500 voum"shin slightly smiled in surprise

"Thank you"

Lang spilt off from us after he got his share he wasn't a hunter but would get paid from Ian when they went out to hunt as they walked for awhile to get back to the shop Ian suddenly stopped as he began to look at shin

"Hey you know what me and you should hunt together the more people you have the more safe it is and I can't exactly trust Lang to have my back so what do you say" Ian said while waiting for answer

"I'll have to agree with you on that having two people means less risk but it also means less money but if I die I'll never be able to make money"shin said while he put his hand out and Ian grabbed it
