The Forgotten Sidekick

Danielle Dyewater.

It was her and her small group of followers who had told me about Cassian Hall's plans for his confession—around 3 days ago during the class I had with Danielle Dyewater.

At the time, I suppose wasn't really able to comprehend what they said. I had only replied out of courtesy.

"Lancera… so what do you think we should do?"

"Well, I suppose we should let him confess. After all… we don't know if Asu reciprocates the same feelings, right? Although I'm not close with Cassian, at least he has good eyesight, chasing after Asu!" Chuckling, I had made a joke, expecting the group of fangirls to agree fervently with me, but instead, they just stared at me in confusion.

Before I could understand what I had said wrong, Danielle stood up, took my arm, and pulled me outside the classroom for a talk.

She had the audacity to do that because with her status; it was unlikely that the professor will punish her for something like this.

"Lady Danielle, what's wrong?"

"You…" The petite brunette glanced into my eyes, her voice growing softer as she continued, "you don't deserve Asura, with the way you're behaving right now."

"What? What do you mea—"

"Do you love her?"

"Pardo—"

"Because I do. I love her, but I don't have the qualifications to have a place in her heart—even after spending so many years by her side; I can only support her in the sidelines. I don't care who it was that ended up with her, as long as it was someone that loved Asura and can allow her to be happy, truly happy and not that set of faked emotions she always shows… that's enough for me. So I entrusted you with her, seeing how devoted to her you were. But… from the looks of it, you might not be the one."

Stunned, I wasn't able to reply, only gaping at her words.

"If you don't like her enough to fight for her… then stay away from her. If not…" Danielle Dyewater's eyes narrowed. "then go fight. Can you bear seeing Asura with someone like Cassian Hall? You should know better than I do what type of person he is. And to even suggest that Asura will develop feelings for someone she's never met or heard of… your behavior has more than just been disappointing, even if you are just acting."

"Remember, I have the power to destroy you, your adopted father, and whatever hidden power you have easily. In addition, my words hold more weight than you might think. Mark my words, Lancera Hall."

With that said, Danielle Dyewater spun around and left, leaving me pondering quietly over her words.

Ok, I suppose I should introduce Lady Danielle Dyewater now. Here is some background info you don't really need but you might want to read:

She is the daughter of Duke Dyewater, who is Duke Claremont's close friend. Thus, Danielle was able to interact with Asura from a young age and ended up worshipping her even before the incident where Asura became 'noble'. Danielle is one of the few that's seen both the arrogant young miss side of Asura and the kind, sympathetic goddess. She is also familiar with the stalker incident and the failed marriage between Asura and the crown prince of Loen. With that said, she is very very familar with Asura and although is unable to fully predict her movements, can acutely sense her changes-- very much like how a market trader who stares at the same ticker everyday becomes very sensitive and familiar with its movements and changes, though not to the point of clairvoyance.

Thanks for reading and I hope I didn't dissappoint those who wanted Danielle to be an antagonist, though one can also view her through that lens. :3

Creation is hard, cheer me up!

PS: the name of today's chapter is a very fitting name for Danielle, considering basically none of the older readers (in the timeline they've started to read my book) remember her very very brief and insignificant appearance in ch 14, though I suppose that just enunciates how little Asura cares about her XD ;-;
