CHAPTER 12: RESULTS

It's today. The day the results of our final exam comes out. Bianca and I went to different schools, so I went to my school with Clara accompanying me. I made sure to make her look like an actual human. To be honest, even without makeup she still looked beautiful.

Anyways, we arrived at my school ten minutes before nine o'clock. We were one of the early ones to wait. I went to wait at the hall. On my way to the hall, I could see my old schoolmates glancing at me and whispering to each other.

"Isn't that Damien? I heard he got kicked out."

"Shhh he'll hear you!"

"Who is that beside him? She looks beautiful."

I ignored all of them and walked straight to the school hall. Then someone greeted me from behind.

"Damien." A female voice called out.

I turned around to see my classmate Leah, smiling.

"It's been a while." She said.

Ah, I hate this part.

"How long has it been? Three months maybe?" I said. I wanted to finish this conversation as fast as possible. I got something better to do.

"Almost three months yeah. Soooo, what did you do during that time?" She asked.

"Uh, not much, you'd probably know by now that I got kicked out from my house." I said, with a little sigh at the end.

"So you live somewhere else right now?"

I looked at her. Can you please stop asking questions, is what I wanted to say, but I don't want to hurt her feelings while she's being nice to me.

"Yeah. I live alone. Why?" I responded to her questions with shorter answers so that she understands that I don't want to converse right now. Clara has been standing by my side the whole time and is looking clueless.

"Oh it's... nothing. Let me know if you need.... any help or anything alright?" She said with a smile. I can't tell if it's sincere or a fake. I'm not good at reading emotions.

"Anyways," she continued. " Who is this woman?" She asked, pointing to the now clueless Clara.

Damn, just let me go already. Stop bombarding me with questions!

"She's uhhhhhh... She's my co-"

"His girlfriend." Clara cut me off.

"....usin."

Wait. What?

I definitely saw Leah's surprised face right there.

"Well uh, nice to meet you...."

"Clara."

"Nice to meet you Clara..."

Leah took a glance at me and then looked back at Clara. She had a nervous smile and was looking back and forth at me and Clara. What's her deal?

"Well Damien, uh wow." She let out a surprised sigh at the end.

"I didn't know you liked older women."

"Wait she's not that o-"

Before I even got the chance to finish Leah had already left us both quickly. Well, problem solved but why do I feel that something's wrong. No point on thinking about it now I guess. Clara and I headed for the hall without any problems, and other students seemed to avoid us completely.

When we got to the hall, students were told to go in a queue of their own class to receive the results. My class's line was the second line and I was quite the early one, seeing that there were only three of my classmates in queue. I recognized all of them.

Sheila, the daughter of the city's Head Enforcer. They're the ones who keep the city safe, but I don't think they're doing their job properly. Then there's Mike Park. The son of an architect. He doesn't talk much, but he's known for his ability to read computer language. He won first place in a programming competition.

Then finally there's Richard Temp. He's not the son of someone rich or have a high paying job, but his father opens a Martial arts dojo. He's good at fighting, although I've never fought him before. I only saw him fight in a competition before. I gotta say, if we were to fight, I would barely even make it.

So I brought Clara besides me in queue. I didn't care what the other students say behind my back. We waited for 10 minutes until we got our results after my three classmates got theirs. I didn't check my results immediately. I got out of the queue and went somewhere secluded.

I flipped the paper and looked at my results.

English A-

Mathematics A-

Chemistry C

Biology B+

Physics A-

History A

Geography A-

Engineering Drawing A-

Additional Mathematics D

"Well, doesn't seem so bad, except the last one. It's expected. Additional Mathematics is hard. Fuck that subject." I muttered alone.

Clara took a peak at the paper in my hand.

"Oh, this is a good result. You would probably be able to enroll without a problem." She said.

I shook my head.

"I wouldn't be so sure. There's still the interviews."

After I was satisfied with my result, the students had to wait for a ceremony. Just the same as always. Principal's long speech, call out the best students' names for them to go onto the stage and receive rewards from the honorable guest. Speaking about guest, who is the guest for this occasion anyways?

As I thought of that, the MC called out the name of the honorable guest.

"We gladly welcome our honorable guest, Mr. Warren."

Well I'll be damned.
