Prologue

Di Xuan didn't know for how long she had slept.

However, when she first started squirming around in discomfort, slowly regaining her consciousness, a powerful voice suddenly bombarded her fragile mind, waking her out of her stupor.

"Di Xuan, Seventh Daughter of His Majesty the Jade Emperor, Lord of the Five Virtue Valley. As a Goddess serving under the Heavenly Court, not only have you failed to complete your duties, you have instead assisted the Demon Lord with his rampage and destroyed half of the Immortal Realm!"

Di Xuan's small and delicate face contorted in pain as the voice that commanded absolute authority struck her head like lightning. 

Although the pain was immense and nearly unbearable, it helped refresh her memories that had turned rather sluggish from all the sleep.

"For your sinful misdeeds, you are therefore stripped of your Goddess status and will have your immortal bones removed out of your body. In this lifetime, you would have to bear the pain of dying from old age and pay for the sins you've committed!"

"But, but… That isn't me! This is a mistake, Your Honour! Your humble subject, I, is wronged!!!"

The then Di Xuan felt like crying a thousand rivers as she explained herself till her lips ran dry and her throat turned parched.

That day when the undefeatable War God fell and the Heavenly Soldier's impregnable formation was breached, Di Xuan swore that she was merely having fun chasing immortal geese and ducks around with his good friend, the War God's youngest son, Lu Shui.

She had a solid witness that could prove her innocence and yet, no matter how much she had speak up for herself, the ancient and respectable panel of judges sitting behind the tall and massive court table held no change to their stiff expressions, the pairs of eyes looking down on her so cold and unfeeling as they finalized their decision.

Di Xuan's petite body uncontrollably trembled as if a death sentence had befallen upon her, her figure looking so small and pitiful as she was led to receive her punishment.

After that– There's no after that.

She could think of nothing that happened afterwards, which led her to another question– Where was she, again?

The muddled Di Xuan, who was currently lying flat against the soft ground, could sense a sort of chilling coldness rubbing against her skin, just a few seconds away from creeping into her bones.

She moved her hands to feel around her, the crisp rustling sounds of leaves entering her ears as she opened her eyes to a world of dense greeneries.

With the faint warm light of the sun occasionally seeping through the colliding leaves and branches, dark moving shadows of the towering trees littered across the ground beneath, softly swaying along the morning's passing wind.

'This is… a forest?'

Slowly and carefully, Di Xuan propped herself up to sit and blinked repeatedly, before she supported herself to her feet and moved her four limbs in a robotic manner.

Strange.

Di Xuan frowned, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. 

Everything felt strange to her. 

The weight of her body, the length of her limbs, the level of her eyesight, the colors surrounding her… Everything just felt– weird.

And the most drastic one…

Di Xuan raised her head to slightly tip her nose upwards to face the clear blue sky, closing her eyes and sniffing the air with an intensity comparable to that of a tracking dog.

'This foul air…' 

Her cute round nose crumpled in disgust as her frown deepened.

'This lingering thick fold of filth and impurities…'

The ends of her lips twitched in disgust.

'Don't tell me…'

Her pitch-black eyes fluttered open, exposing immense horror that was paired with a ghastly complexion.

'I'm in the human world???'
