Wishing for Hope
“Sister!” A little girl ran over, “I came to see you off!”
An older girl caught her, lifting her up with a smile, “Did you now?”
“Mhm, mom and dad came too!”
“Well, my little shadow, I want you to promise me something before I go.” A serious expression on her face the older girl spoke, “I don’t want you to look for me. Ok?”
The little girl looking slightly confused promised, “Okay!”
I pushed forward, every shot finding its mark. The monsters endless, like a tsunami, wave after wave of them came. My companions fell, one after the other, until I was the only one left. I was the last defense, I can’t fail, for my little shadow, I must protect her, I must last until it is done.
So I began my final spell, My mana drained to the last drops as light began to gather. A grand spell began to form, a shielding spell, one that would protect our home planet. Each arrow took longer and longer to shoot as I devoted all of my attention to the spell. The monsters caught up to me as the spell finished.
As the shielding spell was completed, another spell finished, our last hope, and my soul is the vessel for that spell, so I must remain conscious, even as I’m eaten alive. I felt the pull from the spell, and I followed it, my soul leaving my body. Drifting to the center of the magic circle, the gods as one collapsed, leaving everything to me. Using my very soul as the catalyst, I took control of the spell, ascending as a new god. I will protect my little shadow as long as I can.
