The Mirror Image

My tears had long since dried up and I was sitting on my bed with a towel wrapped around my body and a second towel wrapped around my hair. My forehead was starting to throb and it was clear that a headache wasn't far behind it.

The sky had begun to flash with warning signs of a storm, and with a deep sigh of relief I fell back onto the mattress and looked at the bedside table clock. Five minutes to ten p.m. was what it said. I'd been in my hotel room for three hours. The sound of thunder came rolling through the sky, and it made me smile to know that the rain would relax me enough to have a good night's sleep, at least. After the ordeal at the beach today, I needed it desperately.

My phone vibrated from its spot on the bed next to me and I picked it up to see who was ringing. Honestly, I wasn't really in the mood to speak to anyone, but upon seeing that it was my best friend, I answered immediately.
