"What's your surname? I only know your first name." Lanie chuckled. She met him months ago but she still doesn't know his surname.

"Andres. I'm Kieffer Andres. Best friend slash business partner of Tyler Lancaster and older brother of Catherine Andres." Lanie nodded and smiled at him genuinely, which made Kieffer speechless. This is the first time he saw Lanie smile that… genuinely.

"I'm Lanie Dyce Vergara. It is nice to meet you." He chuckled.

"Yeah, nice to meet you, too." They both stayed silent after that and both looked outside. The rain will stop soon.

Lanie faced Kieffer, who was still looking outside. She feels more comfortable around him. Little did she know, that was what Kieffer wanted. To be comfortable in someone else's company and not only in her own company. Kieffer thought Lanie wanted someone to stay, listen and comfort her every time she felt wrecked and whenever she pushed people away just because of what happened to her.

"Kieffer," She called him but he was looking outside. As if he's watching something interesting outside which is true. 'So he also ordered her?' Kieffer thought.

"What will you do if you see something that you shouldn't see?" She asked carefully.

"Uh, say it to the right person, what can help you with what you see? You don't have to keep that to yourself, it will become a burden to you." He said, still watching that person outside.

"But what if there are many people who will suffer just because... I talked about what I saw?" This time, Kieffer looked at her. His eyebrows furrowed because he can say that she is nervous. This girl.

Didn't she think that those people would suffer more if she did not tell the truth?

"Nevermind. I gotta go. I still have duty later." She stood up and got her bag.

"Then do the right thing at the same time keeping them safe. That way, you will not be worrying anymore. Tell the truth or not, those people will still be suffering anyway." That was the last thing he said before Lanie left the coffee shop.

When he made sure that Lanie was out of his sight, he dialed Tyler's number.

"You are right, she is scared of what will happen to the people who are involved in the case. I had a little chat with her, I hope it made her a little braver. And another thing, your spy was not that bad. huh?" He said before ending the call.

When Lanie arrived at her apartment, she felt her body become heavy. She knew she was sick but still set an alarm, the usual thing she does before she sleeps if she had to work after. She set her alarm for 6 pm but she woke up at 7 pm. She's not feeling well but she thinks she can still manage to go to work. She took her medicine before she went to work.

"Oh! Lanie? You don't look good. You're pale. Did you get wet from the rain yesterday?" Althea quickly approached her.

"A little," She said and coughed.

"We have medicine there. Don't forget to drink water." She nodded at her.

She barely survived this night shift. Her body became heavier and sleepy because of the medicine.

"Lady, I asked Manager Yra, you can go home early. Go home and rest." Like Althea said she went home early.

4:30 when she woke up due to heat and sweat. She checked her temperature; She doesn't have a fever now. She gets up and takes a shower to freshen up. Then, she cooked egg soup. After that, she slept again. She will not go to work tomorrow since Althea already informed Manager Yra.

"I think I can go there tomorrow..." She murmured as she closed her eyes to sleep.

Lanie parked her car near the small store of flowers and candles. She greeted the owner, she didn't need to say what are the things she needed to buy because she already knew them.

"Why did you come just now? I thought you would visit tomorrow?" she asked while handing her the flowers and candles.

"Ah, I was sick."

"Oh? Are you feeling well now?"

"Yes. Thank you." She said and turned around to go to the entrance but she called her again.

"Just to inform you, someone visited yesterday! He looked rich! I don't know him because I only saw him yesterday." she doesn't have an idea of what she was saying. There's no one visiting the grave of the Gerpacios except if it's... their family.

"I was shocked because you know, there's no one visiting that grave ever since. Except you, of course, the daughter of one of the maids there." Lanie just slightly smiled at her and went to the cemetery. That was only her excuse. Being the daughter of one of the Gerpacio's maids that died in the massacre. She doesn't have any relatives that died in the massacre. It's only her guilt talking that's why she keeps on coming here the day after their death anniversary.

She went inside the nice mausoleum at the center of the cemetery. Inside were the jars of the Gerpacios and other people who died with them. She put down the flower and lit up the candles she bought.

"I'm sorry. I'm giving it a try. I'm sorry it took so long. Soon, justice will be served. I'm working on it." She said as she looked at the jars of their ashes. She stayed there for two hours before deciding to go. When she went out to the cemetery, she went straight to her car. But, not far away from where she was, there is a black SUV parked there. She shook her head, shrugging the possible thoughts, before going inside.

The man inside the black SUV watched Lanie until her car left. He looked at the cemetery again before commanding the driver to drive.

While Lanie is on her way to Dra. Kyline, to do some sessions, Mark called her to ask if she was fine because Althea told Mark that Lanie was sick. Lanie parked carefully in front of the clinic.

"Are you sure? Where are you? What are you doing?" Lanie opened the clinic's door. The nurse at the counter greeted her. She saw that Lanie was busy talking, and she just signaled her to go straight to Dra. Kyline's office.

"I'm okay. I don't have a fever, either. I'm here at the clinic to do some sessions."

"Why? Is there something that happened again?"

"Nope. Just want to complete the sessions to feel better. Bye. See you tomorrow." she knocked three times before entering. Dra. Kyline has a phone call, too.

"So, how are you?" the doctor asked. She sat in her usual seat while Dra. Kyline stayed in her swivel chair.

"I'm getting better, I guess? I will try what you want me to do." she just stared at Lanie. Looking at her reactions.

"Hmm. And then?

"Well, about the case. Can I see the envelope that you gave me but I refused to get?" She nodded and got it to her cabinet. Lanie opened it and saw pictures from the crime scene. The dead bodies and blood. And some clues related to the case. Lanie inhaled deeply to control herself from trembling.

"I also s-start investigating the case. I'm almost there Dra. Kayline. I'm almost there but..."

"Do you still doubt yourself? Or do you want to protect something or someone?"
