3 Chapter 3 - The Hunt!

Walking outside, Xavier felt the crisp cold air hit him right in the face making his nose become red and feeling as if he had to sneeze. "The cold is coming pretty early this year. Hopefully the winter doesn't last too long." He thought to himself worridly.

He turned around to shut the door, but the house was made so poorly that he had to adjust the door itself just to fit back into place on the frame. He sighed to himself thinking of all the times his father had cursed at this old house and at himself for being unable to afford the tools and lumber to fix it himself.

The world was an unforgiving place where the rich ruled and the poor was given scraps just so they can barely survive while still having to pay the small amount of taxes the Lord's used to line their greedy pockets or use for their own children's education.

The poor was also given an education, albeit a very simple and basic one. The only things they learned were that the world they lived on was called Romulus, a few numbers for basic counting specifically for paying taxes and for not getting cheated at the markets for beast hides and materials. They weren't even taught how to read, so there definitely wouldn't be anything about the system.

The schools barely went into detail about the planet Romulus itself besides that there are 5 continents separated by massive oceans. Even though they are separated by oceans, there are still wars raged for land every now and then with the excuse religious persecution or greed.

The continent they currently live on was called Lastar located at the very bottom of a map. It wasn't the most powerful continent in the world, but it has one of the richest history when it comes to war. Lastar is known as the world's most progressive continent because they have the most Sects that are not governed by the Crown. All they do is sign an oath to not betray the Crown and pay a decent amount of taxes. Otherwise they are left alone to their own devices. Other continents keep Sects under lock and key to monopolize the rare and special classes that occasionally pop up.

The continent to the North is called Orthus which is a Haven for religion. The main and only religion there is called The Entity. The religion was coined, albeit blandly, the day the powerful entity in the sky appeared. They now worship him as a god that bestowed them the system in their heads. It doesn't sound like a bad religion at all, especially since the people of this world weren't really religious before, but the thing that marks them as crazy is that if you don't believe in their entity of the sky, then they prosecute you as a heretic and execute you in front of everybody. They've waged the most wars in the last 10 years of history because of it and it's also caused turmoil on their own soil causing their power to be minimized as a whole

The continent to the west, named Varroc is considered your most normalized Monarchy. They rule with an iron whip and everything is theirs unless told otherwise. They treat the poor like beaten beasts with a collar on and the rich like they're royalty themselves. They're decently peaceful besides being greedy and hostile to the poor.

The continent to the east is called Mythal. This is probably the most unknown and secretive continent on the globe after the system came into place because for some reason the government turned into a democracy and there are rumors circulating saying that they have the rarest of classes over there capable of transforming them into mythical beats. There was a rumor going around saying that there was a tribe of sea men protecting the coasts from invaders. What sets their classes apart from every other continent is unknown.

Lastly, the continent that is in the very center of the other four, The Dead Land. It was named this because when the system occurred the inhabitants of the center continent all class changed into some sort of undead or beings similar when they leveled up. Only the strongest or the most influential has ever stepped foot into the Dead Land and came out alive.

Of course there are Lord's who become too greedy for their own good and try to sell out their own continent, but more often then not it's met with swift justice and death. All countries seem to hold their own special forces and intelligence, so finding and watching a greedy Lord isn't something hard to do in the least.

Xavier sighs to himself thinking about the lack of knowledge he has about everything in the world. All he wants to do is make his family proud and happy. "If I have to go out and kill beasts myself just to pay to get into a Sect and protect my family from starvation I will!"

Not realizing he said that under his breath, his sister looks at him with a big smile and says, "Big brother doesn't have to do it alone! Little sister will come with you and protect everyone as well!" She says while raising a fist and putting it onto her chest.

She saw a soldier do that once as a sign of respect to his Captain in town and now she does it to look and act tough.

Laughing at his little sister, Xavier walks towards the crops the family has in a little field behind their house. While looking at them he nods to himself happily thinking, "Excellent! These crops are ready to be harvested! I better go tell mom and dad!"

Just as he turned around to walk back towards the house he catches movement in the corner of his eye.

A little rabbit is casually hopping around the carrots they have growing at the back of the field, sniffing around. "Your not grabbing even an ounce of our food you little rat!" Xavier says as he sneaks around trying not to scare the rabbit

"Maybe if I get lucky I can catch him for some food tonight!" He laughs internally.

He's never hunted, let alone stalked a beast before, so he's constantly sweating and breathing heavily. "Calm down, you idiot. your going to scare the beast away with your sweat smelled stench before you even get close!"

Taking a minute to pause and gather himself, he closes his eyes, steadied his breathing, and meditates on the spot. Suddenly he hears a sound in his head
