Scene 24

(This scene opens with Anna in the restaurant's kitchen. As she is working her phone rings. She wipes her hands and picks the call).

Anna: hey Jennifer what's up... are you okay?... wait, wait slow down, I can't one thing you are saying... what? Just be calm I'm coming there right now. (She drops the napkin in her hand on the counter, hurriedly removes her apron as she walks out of the kitchen. Gbemisola sees her as she leaves and calls her).

Gbemisola: Yo Anna, what's wrong, why are you in a hurry?

Anna: It's an emergency, I need to attend to something quickly, I'll call you.

Gbemisola: Okay.

(Anna enters her car, starts it and reverses. As she drives out the screen moves to Fredrick's place. Anna then comes rushing in seconds later shouting Jennifer's name).

Anna: Jenny, Jennifer. (She keeps calling as she enters the living room but sees Fredrick instead). Oh my God thank God you are here. Where is Jennifer, can I see her, is she okay, is she upstairs? (She says as she attempts to go upstairs but Fredrick stops her).

Fredrick: Anna Jennifer is okay. (Anna breathes a sigh of relief). Actually she was never really in danger, she just did that to lure you hear cause I wanted to speak with you. (Anna wants to leave but he calls her back and she stops). Anna wait, I had to result to this, I had to speak with you. I've been calling but you didn't pick up.

Anna: After 3 months, am I supposed to be impressed?

Fredrick: Anna I just want to talk. If you don't want to fine but just listen. (She remain still so he begins to speak). Anna I'm sorry. I know I should have called you earlier. I shouldn't have acted the way I did. I'm sorry... (He looks at her weirdly).

Anna: I'm waiting for you to finish talking.

Fredrick: Oh. (Chuckles).

Anna: You think this is funny!

Fredrick: no, no I don't. How am I going to finish what I want to say when you are being funny and sarcastic?

Anna: How am I being funny and sarcastic. I just want you to finish talking so I can leave and it won't be rude because you were done talking.

Fredrick: Anna don't take offense...

Anna: Great, now you are telling me when and when not to be offen...

Fredrick: I love you. (She keeps quiet). And I'm sorry. I'm deeply sorry for all the hurt and pain I caused you. (He begins to walk towards her). I was too rash and quick to jump to conclusions, I didn't listen to what you were saying, I didn't give you a chance to explain yourself better and look through the matter critically.

Anna: No you didn't trust me. If you called me it was probably because the real culprit opened up right?

Fredrick: (He nods his head slowly). Yes, Tomike and Dayo were the ones who were responsible for it and I sent them away the same day I found out.

Anna: Fredrick we were just starting a relationship and you picked what you saw over what you felt. The money was in my room and so? Not everything is black and white, sometimes there's grey too. It hurt me to think that you couldn't even give me the benefit of a doubt, to think that all of those names you called me was what you thought of me.

Fredrick: No beautiful, not at all. It was just the heat of the moment and I said a lot of things I didn't mean. You are a wonderful, funny, amazing and beautiful person. I love you.

Anna: We've only been on one date and were together for like 8 hours.

Fredrick: That doesn't change the how I feel. I love you. And I can't bear the thought of losing you, I don't want to lose you. (He holds her hands in his). Please forgive me. (He rests his forehead on hers. Anna remains silent). I'm truly sorry.

Anna: You are a proud, sad man.

Fredrick: I don't know what can be done about the pride but you can make the sadness go away, you can make me happy again. (She smiles).

Anna: you will have to tone down the pride.

Fredrick: yes ma'am, anything you want. Your wish is my command, so what do you say huh? (She chuckles). There you go.

Anna: (Pauses). I forgive you.

Fredrick: Thank you beautiful, I promise I won't waste it. (They kiss then hug).

Anna: I'm really glad you reached out.

Fredrick: Me too. But I can't take all the credit, those kids are amazing, they deserve awards.

Anna: (Smiles). Don't they. Alright guys, you can come out from the kitchen now. (They start coming out and start shouting, not too loud though).

Fredrick: (Laughs). How did you know they were there?

Anna: The kitchen is the best spying spot in this house. Enough space, great view, loud sound system, snacks, it's got everything.

(Fredrick laughs and she gives a broad smile).

Jennifer: Yes it does. Welcome back Anna.

(She hugs the kids first and then the staff and exchange pleasantries with all of them. She and Fredrick then hold hands and Whitney holds her other free hand. Jennifer is under Fredrick's other arm and Jennifer in turn hugs Isaac. Fredrick kisses her on the fore head then she snuggles her head under his chin and he rests his chin on her head as they smile).
