Chapter 21: Battle at the Borders

"... They haven't moved for a few days... This is weird"

Asia muttered while staring at the enemy walls opposite their direction with a frown on her face. Finding it weird that they haven't sent any of their forces to try and besiege the walls that they built. 

"Asia-sama, should we sent someone to scout them?"

"No... I think they're planning something... but I just can't put my finger on it"

Asia muttered before glancing at the soldiers beside her with a serious expression on her face.

"Mount all of the guns, and tell the mages to get ready... I have a bad feeling... but I can't tell why"

Asia ordered, making the soldier to obediently nod her head before quickly executing her order. Turning the radio in his belt on, connecting to all the squads stationed at the walls.

"This is Major Ethan... Tell all of your soldier to prepare the weapons and get ready to defend the walls... Those insects are planning something so make it quick"

[Affirmative]

The commanders all said in unison, causing the soldier to cut off the call before glancing at the wall in front of them with a large frown on his face.

"Asia-sama, we-"

He tried to report but was immediately interrupted by the ear shrieking noise from the enemy base. Making most of the devil soldiers at the walls to cover their ears as the gates of the opposing wall suddenly opened.

Silence devoured the entire battlefield, as all of the beings on the alliance's walls to look at the opening gates. Looking at it with a visible frown on their faces.

"ATTACKK!!!"

A demon on top of the enemy wall shouted, causing loud howls and shrieks echoed from inside the enemy base as millions of Gastreas started to come out of the gate.

"PREPARE TO DEFEND!!!"

Asia ordered in an extremely loud voice. Making all of the soldiers at the alliance to stand up and immediately started to assemble the mounted guns at the walls.

"Mages!!"

Castoria shouted while raising her staff in the air. Pointing it towards the sky. Making the rest of the mages to repeat her actions as a large magic circle of different colors and sizes appeared at the tip of the staffs.

"[Meteorite]!!"

They all casted, causing the coulds to seperate as thousands of small meteorites appeared above them. Raining down on the Gastreas that was charging towars the walls.

"Again!"

She ordered, making the mages to raise their staffs once again to fire another round of meteorites towards the charging army.

"Arcane gunners!! Aim at the Gastreas at the front!! Don't let them get close to the walls!!"

An Imanity from the Forsaken Faction shouted, causing all of the humans of the [Arcane Gunner] class to walk forward and mount their weapons on the wall before they started to fire at random. To deal as much damage to the Gastreas at the front of the army.

"This mongrels aren't half bad"

Gilgamesh muttered before hundreds of swords and lances appeared floating behind him. Swinging his arm sideways in front of him as the weapons started to rain down on the Gastreas. Killing them as soon as it hit them due to the nature of his every weapons.

"Hmph"

Gilgamesh grinned before raising his hand and summoning a large golden magic circle above the sky before thousands of staffs slowly came out, raining down several beams of golden mana to the entire army. 

"Load the mortars!!!"

A dwarf ordered while raising his arm in the air. Making all of the dwarven men at the farthest spot on top of the wall to load the makeshift bomb that they developed to the mortars.

"Fire!!"

The dwarf shouted as he swung his arm down. Making the dwarves behind him to fire the mortars. Sending hundreds of bombs flying towards the army, causing a chain of explosion to occur. Killing hundreds of Gastreas of different ranks in an instant.

The Gastreas shrieked and continued to charge without regards to their life like they were intending to sacrifice it from the start. Making Asia frown in response as she felt something was off from their sudden attack.

"Something's weird"

Asia muttered as she watched the corpses of the Gastreas continue to pile up on the ground of the battlefield. As the sound of shrieks, gunfire, and explosions devoured their ears. Making the soldiers of the Forsaken Faction to smile in excitement.

"They're getting close!!!"

A oni shouted, making Castoria point her staff on the ground. Making many of the mages at front to do the same before all of them erected a large magic circle on its tip.

"[Flamethrower]!"

They all casted. Covering all of the lands within 15 meters away from the wall with flames. Burning all of the Gastreas who managed to get close and dodge all of the spells that was bombarding their army.

"The guns are ready!!"

The Imanity soldiers reported, causing Asia to give them the signal to fire at will. Making them aim the nozzle of the machine guns at the wall before raining down bullets to the ground.

"Let the Gastreas continue to advance and distract them!!!!"

A demon commander shouted while pointing his hands to the alliance's wall of defense. Making Asia frown as both she, and Lucias' harem heard the demon's order.

"Check all of the stations around North and Central America... and tell me where are they planning to attack"

Asia ordered towards a random witch, making her nod her head before jumping off the wall and turning into a hawk. Flying away as fast as it could towards the other stations around the continent.

"Dragons!! Get ready!!!"

Asia loudly shouted, causing all of the fire and ice dragons from the other side of their wall to spread their wings and fly to the sky.

"Dive!"

Asia ordered, making the dragons quickly dive into the battlefield before releasing their [Dragon's Breath] go the large army of Gastreas.

"ATTACK THOSE DRAGONS!!"

A demons at the walls shouted as they aimed all of their archers and mages towards the flying dragons. Launching random spells to try and bream the hard scales of the dragons.

"Rise!!!"

Asia ordered, causing all of the dragons to rise up in the sky. Completely moving out of reach for the spells to hit them.

"Release the worms!!!"

The demons shouted, causing loud horns to echo through the battlefield as a 30 meter long sandworm came out of the ground. Diving back to the ground to attack the walls underground.

"Fools"

Scáthach-Skaði whispered before pointing her wand towards the ground. Writing an ancient rune on the bloodied and dead soil before long sharp spikes of ice appeared from below the ground. Skewering the giant worms with holes.

"Target found"

A mechanical yet feminine voice echoed from above them as thousands of Ex-Machinas descended from the sky. Pointing a gigantic rifle twice the size of their body towards the army as complicated runes started to appear above their heads.

"[Lösen]"

They said in unison as a ball of energy started to accumulate at the nozzle of their rifle.

"[Enderpokryphen]"

They casted in unison firing a large barrage of energy beams towards the enemy before causing massive explosion upon contact to the ground. Wiping out several Gastreas who managed to cross the middle of no man's land. Destroying a large portion of the ground in the process.

"Shit!! Release the flying Gastreas and deal with those Ex-Machinas!!!"

A demon commander at the wall shouted in anger, causing the demons at the other side of the walls to open the cages. Releasing thousands of Hawk Type Gastreas to the sky that were all 3 meters tall.

"[Lösen: Lauvapokryphen]"

The Ex-Machinas said before all of them fired a large barrage of highly pressurised wind blades towards the flying Gastreas. Slicing many of them to pieces as the Dragons from before descended down and started releasing [Dragon's Breath] to the Gastreas at the sky.

"Commander, we're losing too many men-"

"Shut up! Our goal is to distract them so that those dukes could get those brats. That's why prepare to die for it!!"

A demon commander angrily shouted before he saw dozens of giant cannons to appear behind the alliance's walls. Making him widen his eyes before looking towards Gilgamesh who had a proud look on his face.

"Burn this into your eyes, mongrels"

He said before the cannons behind him started to fire large beams of golden light towards the sky before it rained down on the walls. Creating Massive chaos in the enemy's side as several demons were killed by the beams.

"That fucking prick!!"

The demon commander shouted in anger while crawling on the ground. Trying his best to not get hit by those beams of mana. 

"[Lösen: Himmelpokryphen]"

The Ex-Machinas muttered before hundreds of large lances of pure mana appeared above them. A complete replica of [Heaven's Strike] of the flügels. Launching it towards the new incoming Gastreas coming out of the gate in craze.

"Take shelter!!!"

The demon commander shouted as he along with the rest of the demons entered the inside the small rooms of the walls. Before they heard multiple explosion at the gate of the walls as the putrid smell of burnt meat devoured the entire wall.

"C-Commander, I think we should abandon this wall"

"Nonsense!!! I told you we die for this mission!!"

The commander shouted angrily, grabbing the demon soldier by his collar.

"Can we join in the fun?"

A feminine voice of a woman asked before they heard something slice through the mithril walls around them. 

"Hi~"

One of the Flügels waved her hand with a playful expression on her face. Holding a large ominous scythe of dark mana in her hands, while a few hundred of her own kind stepped inside.

"F-Flügel. H-How did you..."

The commander muttered with a pale complexion. Making the flügel smile brightly in response.

"That doesn't really matter, doesn't it? Bye Bye"

She said before she swung her scythe towards the soldier. Slicing him into two as the Flügels started to massacre all the demons hiding inside the walls.

"Warriors!! Prepare your weapons!!"

Asia shouted making the soldiers at the other side of the wall to clench their weapons. While the Artorias, Nero, and Nobunaga all had a serious expression on their faces.

"Open the gates!!!"

She ordered, causing the giant gates to slowly open as the screams of the warriors from behind echoed throughout the battlefield.

"Warriors!!! Push through their first line of defense!!"

Artoria loudly stated while raising her sword up in the air. Making the warrior to all raise their weapons before the manticores that they were riding begun to run straight into the battlefield.

"[Thrust and feast! Thirteen fangs!]"

"[Light, may you be released from the ends of the world. Split the heavens and tether the earth, anchor of the storm!]"

Artoria (Lancer) muttered as both she and her alter split into a considerable distance. Activating both their noble phantasm at the same time.

"[Rhongomyniad]!!!"

Both of them casted in unison as their lances were covered with an extremely condensed mana that dance around the lance. Charging towards the opposing army. Piercing two large holes in their formation as both Artoria (Lancer) and her alter trampled upon the army at two sides. Making the Gastreas to become disorganized, giving the warrior a chance to attack and push them back to the wall.

"Asia-sama!!"

A talking hummingbird called before transforming back to her human form as she landed on the ground. Making Asia turn her head around to look at her direction.

"W-We recieved a message from the dragon slayers back at the headquarters!!"

She said while kneeling in front of her, causing Asia to deeply frown while looking down at her direction.

"A-A true god and demons attacked the ruby palace!!! General Rimuru was already sent to them as reinforcements!"

"... What?"
