Chapter One

Two extraordinarily special girls existed upon the town of Roseville which nobody knew. But the very day they were born, they had been blessed. Not with holy water, but with acceptance into two schools that were so extremely rare for people from such a small town to be accepted into. No one knew that such schools even existed. Words about it had spread though, once, but no one, not a single soul had bothered to believe it. "Hogwash!" They had cried, "Who would believe such nonsense?" Any child who did believe it was so severely punished that they never uttered a word about it ever in their lives. But of course there were one of two kids who silently knew it was true, in hopes of being accepted into the schools. But none had been accepted.

The reason why people did not believe in the schools was because they weren't normal schools. They were not the schools where you'd go to learn your usual math and English. They were instead: The Academy For Vile and Honor, where students who were truly good and truly awful were accepted. So many times, kids had tried to hurt and bully each other or praise and help each other. 'Just in case the schools were real', they each claimed among themselves. But all failed the judgement by the headmaster of the schools who knew who they were from day one of their lives. All of them were mixed with selfishness and kindness which was not what he had been searching for. All failed, except Silvia and Christie who were both somehow and mysteriously born on the same day. They had the exact opposite personality to each other, but were strangely destined to be best friends. To add onto the list of mysteriousness, the second they were born, the headmaster was certain that in exactly twelve years time, they would be coming to his schools.

"In exactly a month, it'll be our birthday and my father will be there to celebrate. He's going to recover. The doctor said so this morning." Stated eleven year old Silvia excitedly, counting on her fingers as she and Christie strolled along the path next to the duck lake(as the town folks called it due to the amount of ducks always swimming in the lake).

"Yep. We'll finally be twelve and your father will be with you, recovered." Nodded Christie, with a frown. Her heart raced as if something horrid yet something pleasant was bound to happen soon. Silvia silently noted that her best friend seemed suddenly a little glum.

"But don't you have a feeling something's going to happen? Something's that's not exactly good yet not exactly bad?"

"So, It's not just me?" Christie exclaimed, surprised and rather relieved that she had not been the only one who had been having the vibe that an event neither good or bad was going to happen soon.

"It feels strange. It feels as if it is going to be something good and bad. I don't know! It's just..." Silvia's voice trailed off as she went into deep thinking, gazing up at the sky, her green eyes adjusting to the sunlight that was glaring into them. Christie stared at her in admiration. Silvia had golden hair and emerald green eyes. Her lips were red and her cheeks were daintily faded pink. These perfect features had made her popular in the whole town. She knew the town folks were still wondering why Silvia chose to be friends with her. Rumors circulated that she felt sorry for her because she had no friends and that was why she was friends with her. She hadn't believed it at all when she heard it. "Silvia's friends with me because she likes me." She'd rolled her eyes when her mother had told her about the rumor. Doubt suddenly rushed through her body. Maybe that rumor was true. Maybe, behind those sparkling green eyes, Silvia was laughing at her! Maybe she didn't even like her at all! Perhaps she hated her! Anger and hate overtook the feeling of doubt in her stomach. She seethed silently. For the past few days, she had been doubting their friendship. She had been wondering why Silvia liked her. And now that she thought about it, everything made more sense. Silvia was beautiful and due to this, she was popular and had many friends. But she, Christie, was ugly with her short, black hair, big nose, and blue eyes that bulged out and because of this, she had no friends except Silvia who she sure didn't like very much at that moment.

"Christie? Christie!" She opened her eyes and saw Silvia snapping her fingers in front of her face. "What were you doing? I was worried you died on the spot just like that, on your feet." She laughed.

"So pathetic, that laugh. That fake laugh., probably" Christie sneered in her head silently.

"Yeah?" She said aloud as if her thoughts weren't mean thoughts about Silvia.

"You okay? You're dozing off, I think." Silvia looked at her in concern.

"I just...I just don't feel very well. Actually, I feel really sick. I should probably go home." She lied swiftly and began running towards her home which was situated up the big hill ahead. "Bye, Silvia."

"Bye Christie! Strange, she was feeling well an hour ago." She heard Silvia muse in a low voice.

Christie rolled her eyes and dashed up the narrow hill, panting with her hand clasped onto her mouth as if she was going to puke any second. But when she got home, her cool facade ended and a big smirk replaced the 'sick' and 'worried' face.

"So gullible." She sneered to herself and strutted selfishly inside.

Faraway, beyond the woods, a darkly hooded man smiled in his tower as he watched Christie's unholy actions in amusement.

"Definitely," he said, satisfied. "Christie and Silvia of Roseville. Born to be enemies, but somehow are 'friends' as Christie thinks." The old headmaster chuckled quietly and leaned back to make his plan for the girls' big journey in just a month's time.
