Zusammenfassung

Victoria and her family abruptly move from Pheonix to smalltown Jamestown after a series of strange deaths. As she starts her new school, her father starts his new job as a viral researcher and virologist to eradicate this dangerous unknown disease that is rapidly growing in the southwest. It will soon be up to Victoria and her friends to save the human population from this apocalyptic, rapid, and fatal virus.

Chapter 1New

Everything around me was new. New smell, new clothes, new school, new house, new teachers, and maybe some new friends if I'm lucky. I died my hair and cut and bought a whole new look. Everything is new. I'm not used to being the new kid. I looked around me and realized that everyone was staring at me. But one girl stood out to me more than the rest. She was more familiar to me than anyone else; maybe because she reminded me of Alice from back home. I walked up to her and smiled. She smiled back, thank God. "Hi! I'm new here and I was wondering if you could help me out? I have no idea where I'm going." I asked the girl.

"Yeah sure. I'm Rebecca, what's yours?"

"Victoria, I just moved here two weeks ago from Phoenix."

"Phoenix huh? That's quite a move. Why are you here? I mean- why did you move here?" She seemed nervous. She was very pretty. She wore a black leather skirt, red lace top, red lipstick with beautiful, wavy, raven colored hair.

"Oh my dad's work. He works for the CDC. They transferred him here and we had to come with him I guess." I tried to laugh. Rebecca laughed too. She is interesting to me. She is just like Alice. I miss her, but maybe Rebecca will do just fine.

Even the way she walked was like Alice. The way she smiled, the way she laughed, even the way she flipped her hair of her shoulder. The only difference was her height and her name. Obviously it's not Alice because Alice died three weeks ago from a disease that no one could accurately diagnose, let alone cure. They called it some weird name, mortuis resurrexerit. Alice seemed like she died from starvation. She was hungry. Hungry for meat. Hungry for things that no one could explain.

A few people died from the disease. Alice was the first. She had some kind of flu, then her temperature was through the roof, and she died for four minutes until she snapped back to life. Then an elderly man down the road named, Edwin Con was next. A little girl named Agiela Connor was next. That was the saddest one because she died a few days before her 9th birthday. There were 11 people in two weeks that died from this. My dad inquired for a transfer to keep us safe because they weren't sure how it was spreading. The government suggested bioterrorism. It's me, my dad, my mom, and my five year old kid sister Hannah. My parents didn't want any of us to get sick, so he got transferred to this new town, Jamestown.

Jamestown is a nice little town, but so different from the big city like Phoenix. I used to her sirens all through the night. It might have been too populated in Phoenix, but Jamestown is in the country. Small town high school, small town people, and small town market. There was only one gas station, one library, one high school, one elementary school, four churches and seven farms.

"So what grade are you in?" Rebecca asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"I'm a junior. You?"

"Same! That's awesome! Let me see your schedule!" She snatched my schedule right out of my hands. I noticed her long, black, acrylic nails. "We have four classes together. You can sit with me." She seemed overly enthusiastic. For as dark as her aesthetic looked, her personality was way too preppy.

She walked me to the first class. Of course it had to be calculus. I have already taken all of the classes I had. Not entirely sure why my credits didn't put me into higher classes. But I guess with being in advanced classes and taking college course credits, the only way to go any higher would to make me a senior. I suppose I could become a senior, but I was already quite young for the grade I'm in now. I'm only 15, but I'll be 16 in a few months.

"What do you think of Jamestown so far, V? Can I call you V, or do you have a nickname you prefer?" Her smile was bright. She could light up any room that she walked into. Maybe even the entire town, a town as small Jamestown that is.

"It's okay. There's just not a whole lot around here. I guess I'm used to having 800 people in my graduating class, and I'm pretty sure that makes up the entire student body here." I laughed at the idea of going to a significantly smaller school than what I was used to.

"Actually, there's probably only 600 in the entire school. Our grade alone has 78, now 79 students with you added to it. But I'm willing to bet that at soon as people turn 18, that number will start dropping down like flies. Some of these kids aren't exactly school material if you know what I mean." I knew what she meant. There were plenty of kids at my old school that were that way.

"Oh and people call me Tori just so you know. V works too though."

"Okay Tori, V. Whatever I say, I'll call you. Victoria is just too many syllables." She chuckled. I don't quite understand that, but okay.

She was entertaining. I enjoy watching her. She's graceful when she walked. It almost seems like she just glides by, not even making a Mark on the earth below her. She is more graceful than Alice ever was. Maybe she's a dancer. "Do you dance?" I blurted out, not having control over my own mouth.

"Yeah, actually. How did you know? Are you a dancer too?" She seemed interested in my question.

"Yeah. Never in a studio though. I did tap dance when I was three, ballet when I was eight, and hip hop when I was 13. But I'm mostly self taught. I learned mostly through gymnastics. I never liked being in a studio. I liked doing my own thing, my own style." I said shyly. She smiled her big and bright smile.

"There's a talent show coming up soon. You should try out for it! We love to see new blood on the stage. Who am I kidding? We love to see new blood in school and in this town." That was a very interesting statement. 'New blood.' Not something you hear very often. "Here's our first class. Room 215. Our teacher is kind of weird, but super sweet. Her name is Mrs. Bailey, but everyone calls her Ms. B."

I walked in and all eyes were on me. "Hey Rebecca? What makes her weird?"

"Call me Bec. But she she talks about her cats all the time. There's two of them: Angelina and scooter. She refers to them as if they were actually in the same room as us. She is funny though. Kind hearted. I think she's a good teacher, just a little weird I guess. You'll like her, I'm sure. Here, you can sit by me." She gestured to the open seat next to her. Her long black nails rested firmly on her notebook. She sat up straight on her chair. It was obvious she did ballet given her posture. She is very statuesque. She almost seemed like a dream. Then he walked in. The most attractive guy I have ever seen.

Pepper writes stories that span the gamut from humorous to heartfelt, however the common theme is crossing boundaries. Pepper's unique stories often tackle taboo topics such as mental illness and homelessness. Readers will find themselves questioning their own sense of right and wrong, attraction and desire. In addition to writing, the author is also an artist, an introverted recluse, a self proclaimed empath and a foodie. Pepper Pace can be contacted at: pepperpace.author@yahoo.com Carmella was still a teen when the Motherships first appeared dotting the skies over the Earth. For years the world tried to normalize while the silent Motherships hovered. And then THEY arrived, promising that they meant no harm. But within ten years eighty percent of the world’s population would be wiped out. Including everyone that Carmella loved. The ‘blobs’ took those that survived to another planet called Earth Two. But Carmella was an Earthling and she would kill the hated monsters that had destroyed her world before she would allow them to take her. Carmella settled into a lonely existence on the now desolate earth—all alone except for her wolf. And then she sees it hiding, watching her—maybe to capture her and remove her from the only thing that she can still call her own--her world. But Bilal is not like the other Centaurians. He is fully aware that he will never be like the humans that he’s grown up with. Earth is the only home he knows and he feels that he is just as much an Earthling as any human. Shunned by his own kind, Bilal travels the Earth trying to capture an essence of the life that he could never be a part of and a world that would never accept him. When he sees the black woman living all alone his curiosity gets the best of him. He cannot stop himself from watching her, and secretly growing more attached to the human. Bilal’s quest to become human brings him to a decision that will forever change the course of human-kind. In an attempt to ease the woman's loneliness--or perhaps a need to recreate himself, Bilal impregnates the woman with his Alien DNA.

Eve of the Doomsday

Eve Ziffer always believed that one day her nano-machines would save humanity. It needed to be saved—from pollution, from the climate change, from the wars. Yet in the end, her research instead turned out to be the thing that pushed it into the very abyss. After surviving an attack and waking up from a six-years long coma that followed, Eve opens her eyes to see the world changed beyond recognition. Walking corpses roam the streets, and humans fight them with swords and superpowers. Now Eve is the only person able to finish her own work and fix the nano-machines that brought this devastation. Whether the last vestiges of mankind would disappear, or would the human race rise like a phoenix from the ashes—all lies in hands of Eve and the people she will meet along the way. They will fight and they will scheme and they will talk, because human vices are adversaries as bad as the zombies; and trials of friendship and love can be as perilous as any battle. ===================== Victor leaned towards her face, burning her with his glare. “No.” “I’m doing this for myself, for you and for science. Any single one of these reasons is enough to keep disagreeing with you.” Victor’s eyes dropped to her lips. ‘There is more than a single way to dominate a person…’ Before he could even try to stop himself, he dived in, pressing his lips on hers. His hand grabbed the back of Eve’s head, another fell on Eve’s thin waist and followed the alluring lines of her figure to her hip. His body was burning with inner fire. Eve was too shocked to think. She never expected for this standoff to end like it did. Victor kissed her as if he wanted to eat her. His bites stung, but his lips soothed. The heat of his hand burned her skin even through clothes. Then Eve finally regained her sanity. She drove her knee into Victor’s groin. He gasped and bended in pain, letting Eve go. Before he could resist, she continued the combo with a strike to the back of his head and a submission hold on his arm. “What are you doing?! I should’ve listened to Xia better. Men really are worse than dogs! How did I miss the moment when your brain had turned into mush, Victor?” “I didn’t think that I would need to spell it out, but there can be no romantic interactions in work time, and no romantic relations between researchers and test subjects. More than that, I’m not interested!” ==================== [Status: completed] Warning! Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

I see dead people. But hey, it’s the zombie apocalypse, everyone is seeing dead people, including a blind girl. It’s not like I am that special. For a while, I thought I was going to be Cinderella, complete with the cruel stepfamily and the little mice for helpers. But instead of mice, I got demons from hell with a taste for chaos. Then again, there is nothing wrong with a little chaos in the middle of the apocalypse. It’s what makes life worth living. Unfortunately for others, they don’t quite see it that way. You see, I have a gift. One that isn’t exactly mine, but I can use it however I see fit. My gift is granting wishes. I'm a genie without a bottle, but it would be nice if people appreciated me more. All the humans ask for is the same thing… more food here, shelter there, kill these people, torture those. And I do it all, for a small price. I don’t ask for money or food, I can get that on my own. No, I want favors, souls, something that means everything for the other person. And they give it to me. Their momentary desire worth their long term happiness. But by the time they discover that, I’m long gone, already moved on to my next… client. I know I look young, starvation and abuse will do that to a girl. Humans tell me that I shouldn’t be wandering out there alone. Some try to help me… most don’t. But whoever said I was by myself? Just because others couldn’t see them didn’t mean my demons ever left. I still hear their voices in my head, whispering words of encouragement and love. For them, I’d do anything. Kill anyone. Destroy anything. After all, life is just a game, right? Those still alive at the end of the day were the lucky ones. Those who died were not. Everything is just a game of chance, all a human has to do is roll the dice. My only word of advice is to be careful what you wish for… you just might get it. My name is Hattie, welcome to my world. Would you like a cup of tea?
