The Beginning

"What's going in here?"

"Where am I?"

"Mommy, daddy where are you?"

"Are you the one who brought us here?"

"No please save me!"

A multitude of voices could be heard all around me. I opened my eyes and was taken aback by the situation as a large number of people were all me. I looked around me, a desperate attempt to find even a tiny answer to the situation that was unfolding before. The room was filled with shouts trying to get a grasp on the situation while others made the scene escalate even further. Seeing as there was no one to rely on, I made up my mind to find out the answers myself.

Before I could do anything, a bright light began to shine from the center of the room instantly drawing everyone's attention. As our gazes lingered upon the light, a woman emerged leaving us speechless. There stood a woman with golden hair and red eyes, clothed in white garments, and an air of otherworldly beauty around her. In a split second, a pair of pure white wings emerged from her back completing her already angelic look. She took the skies as quickly as she appeared from the light and spoke, her voice echoing throughout the room, "O ye son of man, rejoice for ye have been given a great privilege. The gods have chosen and have bestowed upon ye the right to work towards a greater goal far more precious than thy human life. Now rejoice and strive to prove Thy selves worthy of such a gift. May the blessings of the gods be with thee always and I wish you luck as you survive this first ordeal."

Immediately she stopped speaking, a loud explosion sounded from the end of the room, followed by screams of terror and panic. A wave of people rushed forward, inadvertedly pushing me as they moved. with a quick glance behind to see what was going on, the sight made my face go pale. Rushing from the back of the crowd was a group of monsters, yes that's right monsters, those things you would only see in games, anime, webtoons and novels were the ones chasing us. They attacked whatever was in their way and devoured their bodies ruthlessly paying no mind to whether their prey was alive or dead. I started forward and away from the monsters, moving to the front of the room where it seemed most people were going to. More explosions resonated throughout the room, this time from the left and right sides indicating the appearance of even more monsters.

As I moved forward with haste, something caught my eye. A little girl who looked about fourteen was on the ground. People passed by her without even giving her a glance but for some reason I couldn't do same. I walked up to her and said, "come on the way out is just a few feet away we can make it. If you're too scared of going alone, I'll go with you if you ask." She looked at me skeptically but still got up and followed me. We moved along get closer and closer to the front of the room and that's when we saw it. At the front of the room was a white portal like door that seemed to lead out of the room. We both sped up as we saw a way out of this hell, this nightmare and we wanted to reach there, if just a bit quicker.

From the corner of my eye, a glint of silver flashed as it moved towards the girl in front of me. Instinctively, I pushed her out of the way and felt a sharp pain through my back. She turned her head towards me and said, "what in the world was that..."but trailed of before she could finish her sentence. "Go! Make sure you pass through that gate and survive." I told her. With a tear in her eye, she gave a weak nod and made for the gate. As she went through the gate relief filled my being but was instantly replaced by a feeling of intense pain. I fell to the ground as multiple pangs of pain coursed through my body, making me feel as if I had been stabbed repeatedly in the back. I lay on the ground, shuddering, as I felt something pin me to the ground making me unable to move. "If you want to blame someone blame the gods who chose me again," a cold, raspy voice, clearly male said to me. I tried to lift my head, but my assailant forced it back to the ground. "Now the only thing left is to deal with you, huh" As he said this something sharp came down in my back. I felt pain I had never felt before but only for an instant. My vision went black, and my body had no feeling. The only thing I could hear was his accursed laughter. Something I'll never forget. NEVER!!!!
