[Mature Content] Caught gambling in a prison cell for money, Valda Griggs is whisked from her home and taken to the royal Palace to face judgment for her crimes. However, she gets abducted by a group of assassins along the way. Valda Griggs finds herself in a completely different realm, where power is more important than the blood that courses through the veins of even a family member. There, she meets Eryx Salvatore, the dark, brooding, yet handsome demon fox responsible for her abduction, and he strikes a tempting deal with her. Valda wants nothing to do with him, she knew about the Ancesgon capital, a prominent realm where the supernaturals exist, alongside beasts that never failed to look down on mortals. Eryx Salvatore was no different, for he is the villain in his world, and he is out to make himself more powerful enough to take the throne from his younger brother – and she is going to help him. Eryx Salvatore is not the only evil brewing, another evil, more powerful, more dangerous has been awakened. Valda finds herself trapped in the tangled webs of lies, deceit, and more importantly, how does she stop the cunning fox from finding the keys into her heart? No no! He's supposed to be the bad guy here!

Chapter 1Gambling In a Cell

Rewards are granted to those who obey the law, but to Valda, every law was set to be broken at some point. Some can happen unintentionally, some can happen with a deliberate intention, and in her situation, it was neither of those two.

"I win."

Valda laid down her cards on the table, revealing a winning combination that left the two prisoners in front of her dumbfounded.

She was presently locked in a dim-lit prison cell with these two buffoons, and the fire torches on the wall casted a warm glow on her beautiful oval-shaped face.

The game they were playing was known as "Shadow's Gambit" a popular pastime among the incarcerated, but right now, it was nothing short of a gamble. The rules of the game were simple, Valda was no stranger to such games of chance, but the prisoners she was with didn't know that, and that was her end game to winning.

There's a saying that you should avoid two types of people when playing a game of gamble; the first is to avoid those you've never played with before, and the second are those who are known to be what they call, 'agents of distraction' – the type whose duty is to distract you from winning.

"This is merely the first round, woman, you just got lucky." One of the prisoners named Chucks sneered as he shuffled the cards this time around. Valda gave him the go-ahead, proving to them she wasn't up to anything mischievous, and he shared the cards.

Silence filled the quaint cell once they started playing, and Valda's strategy was swift and calculated. Tension gripped the two men who were now deeply engrossed in their game of cards. They revealed their cards eventually, confident in their victory, but were instantly humbled when Valda dropped her cards.

The two men were presently sweating after Valda's third streak, and she smiled at her triumph. Just as promised, a pouch containing more than thirty gold coins was given to her, but Chucks didn't look happy about his loss and scoffed audibly.

"What is your trick?"

"Pay up, and I might consider telling you." Valda proposed. She was basically money-minded, one needs money in order to have their way, that was the mentality she grew up with, as nothing in this cruel world is offered to you on a gold platter.

"How about a fight for the final win?" Chucks suddenly added, folding his strong arms with a condescending smile on his lips. "I heard you kick butts instead of giving those thirsty men a little lick from that vicious tongue of yours!" He brought his tongue out, wagging it side to side as a way to crack her nerves, but Valda barely budged at his offensive display.

"Hey, no."

Jeffery, who was his cellmate, was not in approval of Chuck's absurd demand, considering his size in comparison to the frail girl sitting beside them. The lady in question pinched the space between her eyebrows, shaking her head at Chuck's unwavering pride – he couldn't beat her in a gamble, so he wanted to make things physical in order to assure himself.

What a baby.

On a normal day, Valda would be putting these rotting men in their places, but unfortunately, tonight was not the night for such activity, because she needed their money – that's the main reason she broke the curfew law so the patrol guards would bring her here.

"Listen, Chuck's or whatever your name is, I won this money fair and square. I'm not in the mood to enter combat mode, maybe another time when I'm in urgent need of money, you can decide to turn that into a clash of the titans." she gave her honest advice, but Chucks wasn't buying it.

"Oh sure, run along like the little pussy you are, Valda." He smirked at her retreat, "Guess you're not as tough as people claim you to be, and at least you are aware of where your limit lies with me."

"Where my limit lies?" Valda scoffed in outrage and rose from her seat. She banged her small palm on the table, looking straight into the eyes of Chucks.

"I was being considerate cause I don't want a baby panda to wet his pants after losing overnight, but since you insist, I don't mind showing you some of my disciplinary methods – I could pick a favorite." she smiled challengingly, aggravating Chucks who rose to his feet, but they got separated by Jeffery.

"Let it go Chucks, don't forget, your actions might draw attention from the guards on patrol, and no one must get a whiff about our gambling business, else his Highness won't spare our lives." he reasoned with Chucks, reminding him of why he needs to gain control of his temper, and with a begrudging look, he watched as Valda happily brought out a pouch from where she hid it in her dress, adding all the money she's won inside.

Unbeknownst to them, Valda secretly switched her cards in the game to a higher number when they weren't looking, leading to her continuous victory, and her 24hr practice before coming here wasn't completely wasted.

By tomorrow, she'll be able to pay off the debt her greedy uncle has placed her in, and those loan sharks will finally stop paying her home unpleasant visits.

Royal Secret: I'm a Princess!

After living as a famous Korean vlogger-slash-mukbanger, Neoma died a (shameful) death and regressed to her tragic first life--- the life where she has to live as a hidden princess with a tyrannical father and a yandere twin brother. She died at the hands of her psycho brother in her first life. But luckily, she charmed her "big brother" this time. Her father remains a sc*mbag, though. But a blessing in disguise happened when her twin brother got "sick." Because of that, she has to pretend as the "Crown Prince," forcing her father to treat her well. She thought she was finally on the road to becoming a lady of leisure. But, despite her laziness, she still ends up completing royal duties that put her closer to the throne than her sick twin brother. The next thing she knew, they already prophesied her to be the first empress of their very patriarchal empire. Now Neoma finds herself in the middle of the succession war she never wanted to be involved in! *** [EXCERPT 1] “Neoma de Moonasterio, the first princess of Moonasterion Empire. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero’s proxy.” [The hell is this psycho saying?] Neoma, despite her confusion, still smiled at her father--- the emperor. “Father, what do you mean by that?” “From now on, assassins sent by my enemies would target Nero,” the emperor explained. “Until he’s strong enough to protect himself, you’ll pose as your twin brother.” Her smile froze, but she still acted innocent. “But Father. If I take my brother’s position, then wouldn’t the assassins mistake me for him and…” She stopped talking when she realized that was exactly what the emperor wanted her to do. [This sc*mbag wants me to be bait?!] “You’re no longer a princess, Neoma de Moonasterio. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero de Moonasterio,” Emperor Nikolai said coldly while looking down at her with glowing red eyes. “Try to survive until your twin brother comes back to take his rightful place, understood?” Neoma was too shocked to react. [Are you f*cking kidding me, you sc*mbag?!] *** [ORIGINAL BOOK COVER. Artwork by sola_cola.] *** [EXCERPT 2] “I’m so sick of your tyrannical a*s,” Neoma yelled at her father aka the emperor. “I won’t forgive you for hurting Lewis and Tteokbokki!” “What will you do about it then?” Nikolai asked with a smirk. “Kill me?” “Yes! I’ll f*cking kill you, sc*mbag!” “Language,” he warned her, upset that his five-year-old daughter curses like a sailor. “Using vulgar words is unbecoming of the future Crown Prince.” “I’m a princess!” Upon yelling those words, the royal princess’s eye color changed from ash-gray to red. [This is getting serious.] “Stop it, Nero,” Nikolai told her sternly. “If you keep that up, the royal knights will come and–” “I’m not Nero!” Neoma screeched angrily. Then she jumped in the air with her left fist, ready to punch him. “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!” [What…?] And Princess Neoma, pretending as the Crown Prince for her sick twin brother, punched Emperor Nikolai, her father, in the face.

But just who is the hunter and who is the prey? ******** Excerpt: “Why are you stripping naked in front of me?” she questioned with a frown, doing little to hide the irritation in her voice. Her goal was to capture only his heart, not his whole body! “Am I not allowed to have a bath with my wife?” he remarked with a cold tone. “I purposely asked for a big tub to just make sure that the two of us will fit in it together.” She sighed, not tearing her gaze away from him as she regained her composure. Seeing him smirk she forced herself to get comfortable as he spoke. “That’s more like it. You said it yourself that no one forced you into marrying me. Instead, you offered and volunteered yourself willingly for it, so I expect that you’ll be confident enough to share a bath with your husband,” Nikolai confidently stated. “After all, we’ll do more than this soon enough.” Shameless… Preventing herself from rolling her eyes, she managed to give him a smile as she said, “Don’t blame me if you die on me then.” **** Note: Volume 1: Main Story Status - Completed (Chapters 1 to 403) Volume 2: Side Story Status - Completed (Chapters 404 to 472) Volume 3: Side Story Status - Completed (Chapters 473 to 491) **** PS: Commissioned Book Cover owned by the Author!
