Chapter 42: Induction

(Van: POV)

Sitting in the bar I had rented out for the entire day, Arwen Cohl and I simply talked.

After he stopped trying to threaten and kill me that is.

We talked about many things.

Our likes, dislikes, our thoughts about the Republic. I even got his opinion on several of my own plans.

As our conversation went on I started to see and feel some of the bitterness and jadedness in the Mirialan war hero/mercenary slightly fade away.

Good.

It wouldn't be good if he kept all of that baggage since we are going to be working together.

Which he agreed to do after our talks finished.

After they did so I placed back on my helmet and we both left the bar and went our separate ways.

Once I was sure no one was following me I headed back to the Milano. Arriving just as HK-47 did.

"Query: Master, are you sure you wish to trust that Mirialan meatbag?" HK asked me.

"Yes, I am." I replied. "Otherwise I wouldn't have shown him my face." I said.

Arwen Cohl isn't a bad man. He just ended up getting dealt a shit hand by life and became hardened and cynical because of it. Similar to Jango Fett.

Though if given a nudge in the right direction men like them can go back to the way they were before. Those that fought for the people. Which is what I want Cohl to become once again.

For having a man like that by my side will be invaluable.

"Statement: Whatever you say master." HK-47 said.

Once he did so the two of us boarded the Milano and left Myrkr and started making our way back to Coruscant.

------------------------------------

[Van Personal Apartment, Coruscant, Galactic City]

Sitting on a couch in my apartment I watched a holovid about the history of the Galactic Senate.

Yennali sitting on my left, her head resting on my left shoulder. A content smile on her face.

Since we just finished a very intense makeout session.

A thing we were both totally into.

Having returned to Coruscant just a few hours ago I invited her to my apartment to hang out.

Because after being away from my girlfriend for almost an entire month I needed some tender love and affection just as much as she did.

Placing my left hand in her hair I gently ran my fingers through it. Which caused Yennali to snuggle up to be even more.

As I contently enjoyed her company and warmth she suddenly spoke up.

"Hey Van, I was wondering something?" Yennali asked me.

"Yes, what is it?" I asked her.

"Can we tell master Plo-Koon about the coalition and bring him into it?" She asked.

The moment she did so I stopped running my fingers through her hair, pulled head slightly upward, and looked her directly in her eyes. "Yennali, do you think he can be trusted not to sell us out?" I asked her.

Because despite our new relationship status there is no way I will allow it to endanger the coalition.

"Yes." Yennali replied immediately.

"I see." I mused. "Well as you know the two of us can't simply make this decision ourselves. We have to consult some of the others first." I told her.

For we made a rule long ago that before we induct anyone new into our coalition as least four members have to agree to it.

It's how we've stayed hidden from the Sith, and the eyes of the rest of the order.

"I know that. But I truly believe master Plo can be trusted, and that he won't sell us out. Yennali said.

Which of course she would think since she has been his Padawan all these years. But concerning master Plo Koon, I've also been on the fence about bringing him into the coalition. Since while I know he is definitely not a super traditional or orthodox Jedi I could never get a good judge on his character.

Though if Yennali is willing to take a leap of faith on the Kel Dor Jedi then I guess I will too.

After all if I don't put faith in the people I trust when it comes to matter like this, then when can I trust them?

So my decision made I began working with Yennali to induct master Plo Koon into the coalition.

First we contacted Dooku, Sifo-Dyas, and Komari and then explained our proposal.

To which all of them agreed to.

Getting us the permission we needed to induct master Plo Koon into the coalition.

Now all that was left was to do the deed.

---------------------------------------------------------------

(3rd Person: POV)

Having been a Jedi for many years Plo Koon had seen and done many things that weren't exactly in line with the Jedi Code.

Partly because of his species innate traits and qualities, and partly because of his own conscience.

Yet as the Kel Dor Jedi master listened to his apprentice, and her friend the recently knighted Van Sunrider, explain to him that they had been part of a growing secret coalition within the Jedi Order itself and wanted him to join their cause, well Plo Koon knew immediately their actions were not in line with the Jedi Code at all.

In fact Plo Koon the actions of his apprentice, her friends, and the rest of the Jedi who were members of this coalition were spitting on the very Jedi Code they had all learned and sworn to follow.

Despite this Plo Koon couldn't stop himself from agreeing with their actions.

Even if he knew such actions went against the Jedi Order as a whole, and that anyone involved in this coalition would be expelled from the order should it be discovered.

But Plo Koon had already decided it would not be him who caused that to happen.

As Yennali and Van finished speaking Plo Koon rubbed his breathing mask with his right hand.

"I see." Plo Koon spoke. "So you wish for me to join this coalition and prepare to help you fight the coming darkness that will threaten the galaxy?" He asked.

"Yes." Van said.

"Master, please join us." Yennali asked. "I know you must be upset with me for keeping this secret from you, but given everything it involved I had no choice. And I know this is selfish of me to ask, but I would like you to stand with us, and allow me to continue to stand by your side as your apprentice." She spoke.

"Little Nali, there is nothing you need to apologize for." Plo Koon told Yennali. "I fully understand the situation from yours and knight Sunrider's explanation and I know why you could not bring this up to me earlier. Know that I hold no grudge against you, and that I will indeed join your coalition." The Kel Dor Jedi master spoke.

Which brought a smile to Yennali's face.

As well as too Van's.

Since it looks like trusting Yennali was the right move after all.
