In the year 2063, birth rates are at an all-time low. The world population is decreasing at rapid rates causing the economy to deflate and certain institutions close. The United Nations decides to create a program dedicated to people to their most compatible person on the Earth. This is decided based on DNA testing, personality exams, etc. From the age of 16, every able person (meaning those who can give informed consent) goes through the testing process. Every inch of their DNA is scanned for abnormalities, carriers for diseases, etc, in order to give potential babies a better chance at life. The program is optional, however, many people participate because of the money tied to it. You get paid based on how many children you produce. Some couples went crazy and had 8 or 9 kids. Some were genetically inclined to have multiples and had twins or triplets. The company that runs the program is called Soulmates, Inc. With a success rate of 95%, they are dedicated to raising the population again. However, matchmaking might not be the only thing they are doing with everyone’s DNA... Kimoko opted to be apart of the program when she turned 16, but now she was coming up on her 18th birthday and still no match. She was beginning to lose hope that anybody was compatible with her until she got an email one day. (This novel will be in 1st person) *Originally published on Wattpad*

The Cemetery Next Door
