The pair looked around, the arena that had been shattered by Bujinjinki piecing itself back together like self-assembling lego bricks. As the fighting area finally finished building itself back up to what it originally was, Aaron and Stone were greeted with cheers from an entertained audience, allowing Aaron to sheathe Tsuyukagiri. "Well, what are we supposed to do now? If we go to another planet, we'll probably get our asses targeted by Auth again, won't we?" Soul reminded Aaron, who immediately went into deep thought. "I mean, yes, but it's not like we can increase our Boundlessness in any other way. After all, right now, we're just entertainment for gods." Aaron reminded Soul. "Remember? Once we get past 50% Boundlessness, we'll be able to ingest one of those Demonoid God Souls that you created, and then you can break through the 100% barrier." Soul informed Aaron, causing him to remember what they were asked to do by N. Go past 100% and take the fight to Auth. At least, that's what he thought that was what N had said.
"Well, I guess we kind of have a reason to go through it. Although, I want to talk with you once we get out of here. After all, it's a sensitive topic." Aaron told Soul, who just nodded, the pair of them vanishing from the arena, teleporting to the Celestial Plane, Takamagahara, again. The two of them looked around, noticing that Takamagahara had become a blank area, devoid of any people or buildings. It may have been the Celestial Plane, but it had SOME personality before. Now it was no different than a colour-swapped version of his mind where he fought Noctar. "Soul. This feels off...doesn't it?" Aaron asked him, tensing up. "Yes. Something isn't right here, and I can't put my damn finger on it." Soul responded, dragging his claw through the air, noticing how gravity had increased slightly. "The air is heavier, yet there is nothing here to cause that," Soul noted. "It's almost like we've been placed in an area similar to Takamagahara. It was made for a certain purpose. Trapping us here..."
Then the realisation hit them. "Well, well, well. Don't we have an intelligent pair of barbarians before us?" A familiar voice called out from behind them. Aaron and Soul turned around, seeing Ronin walking towards them, his sword in hand. "You bastard. You really want to mess with us, don't you?" Aaron groaned, unsheathing Tsuyukagiri. "Oh, I find great joy in that, Aaron. However, you beat me by yourself once, and I'm not taking the risk of going alone again. Come on in, teammate!" Ronin exclaimed, a smile on his face. Out of nowhere, Crystet faded into existence, almost as if he had been watching the group from afar. "Hello there, Aaron. How does it feel, knowing that judgement is about to fall upon you?" Crystet asked Aaron, ignoring Soul's presence. "Crystet. Ronin. The two faces I REALLY didn't want to have to see again." Soul said to himself, getting into a fighting stance. "I'll take Crystet. Aaron, you take Ronin since you two are on equal fighting terms." Soul told Aaron, preparing to fight.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that just yet. We're going for a special match. A Boundless Stakes Fight, if you want to call it by its full name." Ronin told the pair, lifting up his index finger and wagging it. "It's a type of match designed by the strongest beings in the universe. We will fight for the entertainment of the gods. However, it won't be like those Boundless Matches you are forced into, Aaron. This'll be a match with much more on the line than just life." Crystet continued. "We fight to the death. However, there's a catch. Whoever loses has to sacrifice their Boundless Level to the other. If I were to win, I could take Boundlessness away from Aaron, reducing him back to 0%. That's the kind of fight we're going for. The winnings are split between both winners, but since you are the same creature, you will get the maximum reward." Ronin finished.
"That is if you wish to fight, though. After all, we can't FORCE you into a match. Both parties have to agree to it. We're confident that we can win, but are YOU?" Ronin asked the pair, taunting them. After a moment of thought, Aaron spoke up. "No. We won't fight you. I'm not sacrificing OUR Boundless Level in a fight to appease the gods. I've died once, and I know that I'll die again. You two can fight each other if you want, but it's just a death wish for me to fight the pair of you once again. I don't want to go through getting back to where I am. Plus, knowing how Boundlessness works, I'd lose my abilities as well, and I quite enjoy having my Boundless attacks, such as Boundless Telekinesis, thank you very much." Aaron replied before turning his back on the pair.
The sound of glass shattering behind him rung out through the open void, a weak layer of Boundless Telekinesis breaking behind Aaron's back. However, nothing pierced Aaron's body. Not yet. "That's what I would say if I wasn't up to it. I let you attack me for a single reason. It was to see if you could hold yourself back until I agreed to a fight with you, but I guess you CAN'T." Aaron told Ronin, turning around to stare at the startled swordsman, who was strangely unable to move. "I'm not offering my Boundless Level, but an attack on me is a death wish," Aaron informed him, a slight smirk on his face as he grabbed Ronin by the neck. "You forced my hand, and you will reap the consequences." Aaron threatened Ronin as a loud snap was heard, Ronin's body falling limp. "I know that didn't kill you. After all, you're Boundless. However, I'm pretty sure that it hurts. Mess with Aaron or me again, and I will make this personal promise to you." Soul continued, taking Aaron's place.
"I will be the one to kill you, and I am not a kind executioner, Ronin. That goes for you too, Crystet."
I didn't have the motivation for a chapter yesterday so I'll try to get another out today!
