Aaron walked backwards into the cave, curious to see what was inside the vastly annoying infinite reality space. It currently just appeared to be a straight line to a large room. Aaron scoffed at the pathetic excuse of an endless hallway he had been presented with. It was only infinite when the Guardian wanted it. A proper unending room would be without any end. Permenantly. His version of infinite realities only extended to how many he wanted, so it was almost useless, as it still limited his options.
"Pathetic. To say that you have infinite possibilities while they're still limited to what you want to accomplish is utter foolishness. IT's like lying to yourself, but somehow stupider." Aaron commented, walking through the cave, the wall sigils unresponsive. Aaron laughed as he walked through, finding this very amusing. He had learned so much today. Like how people, even other monsters, hated monsters and how far people would be willing to go to kill them. He also found out, through Monument, about Alec. It'd be interesting to see what happened to Alec. Would he use his latent power for good or for his own advantage in an evil temptation? It was cool. Knowing about someone's hidden power, while they didn't know about it themselves. It was like learning a secret, and the person it was about didn't realise they had a secret.
"You know, I always wondered something," Aaron said to nobody in particular. "I'm curious as to what it's like to have hidden power. All my strength is apparent, but having a hidden ability is something that astounds me. My skills are visible the second you see them, but to be sealed away is probably something scary, considering that someone would have had to hide his power in the first place."
Monument, who was listening in on his ramblings, decided to jump in with his opinion on the matter. "Well, in my opinion, it's good to have hidden abilities because you'll always have an ace up your sleeve if you're in a pickle. Say if you get nabbed by some thugs, and they get rid of all your base abilities. You'll still be able to fight with your hidden skills if you get what I'm saying." Monument commented, providing Aaron with some insight that helped him with a new idea.
"Monument, you intelligent little guardian. I just had the idea for a new ability I could try to make later. The ability to wipe all the skills off of a person. An ability to unleash someone's potential forcefully, ripping off any seals that block me. It could be a neat little skill to try out. What do you think?" Aaron asked Monument, who was extremely confused on how his point went into destroying seals*, but he just went with it.
*No Animals were harmed in the making of this chapter, so don't worry, all you animal lovers, I definitely didn't punt a baby seal into the Arctic Ocean this morning. :)
"Honestly, it doesn't sound like that smart of an idea if you think about it clearly. " Monument responded, causing Aaron to slightly doubt his ability idea. "If someone were to have a seal ripped out of them before they were ready, it could lead to extreme physical and mental mutation. If you, say, destroyed the seal which kept Alec in check, he'd be horribly disfigured and would probably go on a planetary rampage, destroying everything in his way. All because of you doing something shattering his seal*."
*Again, just making sure that you KNOW I didn't punt a baby seal into the Arctic Ocean both yesterday AND today. I won't tell you about three days ago, though. >:)
"Wow. I didn't know that. So, even just doing something like destroying a singular seal could have dangerous effects on a person. Although it does make me curious about what Alec would look like as a disfigured monster." Aaron commented, causing Monument to take off his helmet and look at him in disbelief. "You wouldn't...would you?" Monument asked in fear, wondering what was going through Aaron's head. "Of course not! I may be a monster, but that doesn't mean I wish for my actions to be that of a monster!" Aaron responded in disbelief. "Honestly...I thought I was better than that to be seen in such a light."
This resonated within Monument. People saw and spoke of him in fear, yet nobody actually cared about how he felt. He was just an obstacle in their path, and he couldn't help but feel the same as Aaron. He had done good deeds, and everyone regarded him with respect, but behind that respect was a line of fear that everyone knew about but refused to acknowledge or even fix. He had just viewed Aaron in the same light that they viewed him in.
"I'm...sorry. I didn't acknowledge how you felt about the situation." Monument apologised, getting down onto one knee. Aaron looked at him in shock, followed by resignation. Monument didn't know how to make sure this didn't happen again, but then Aaron responded to him.
"Listen. I understand your concerns, but I'm not going to do something as immoral as ruining somebody's future, simply over what I find curious. It's saddening knowing that people regard you in fear for your past and not your present. I wouldn't think about forcing somebody to have their seal removed, now that I know the side effects of such a procedure. I wouldn't even wish that upon my greatest opponent if I had one. Although, Monument, I am curious. How would YOU know about the side effects of having your seal removed? You haven't seen such a grotesque thing happen before, right?" Aaron asked in curiosity, building a theory in the back of his mind, which would soon be answered by Monument. Monument took in a deep breath, letting it out slowly, before answering Aaron's question.
"Us Guardians are genuine people who've had our seals removed for one sole purpose. Our parent's wanted to be famous in their time."
"Since atoms never touch each other, and we are made entirely out of atoms, we've never touched anything in our entire lives."
"So no I did not punt that seal into the Arctic Ocean."
