"Heh. You did change your perspective on things. Thanks. That beam would have exploded if it didn't connect with something other than the ground. You absorbed some of the energy from that attack, right?" Aaron asked, looking at the hole in Crystet's arm. Some pink light was still shining in place of his flesh, but after a few seconds, it faded away. "So, you could tell, huh? That ruins the little surprise I had in store. My body allows me to absorb magic energy as long as it is in contact with me. That attack wasn't in contact with me for long, but I could touch it long enough so it would diffuse when it hit the ground." Crystet explained, smiling. The hole in his arm leaked no blood, which surprised Aaron, as he thought his body was made up of pure flesh and bone, unlike his, which was just something he created using his Boundless Telekinesis. He still needed to experiment with the limits of what that could do.
"Crystet. Is your Wishgranter ready yet?" Aaron asked him, an idea popping into his head. He had an idea of what he should get Crystet to wish for so this incident would end. "Nope, not yet. It'll be recharged in around two hours, though, if that helps you at all." Crystet responded, shooting down Aaron's plan. "Alright, never mind me then. Just bring Clair to a safe distance. I'm going to let him attack me, and he's probably going to use some explosive attacks, so you should stand back." Aaron warned Crystet, prompting him to pick up Free/Clair and ran away, protecting them. He didn't check to see which one was in control at the moment. Crystet just needed to bring them to a safe distance. He confirmed them running away, and Aaron looked back to the Hero, who had been charging up an attack while he and Crystet talked. "You don't know what that girl has been through, do you?" He asked the Hero as he descended to the ground. "No, but I know that ANYTHING is better than being protected by a monster!" He yelled in response as Aaron sighed as he began slowly walking forwards. "Don't get any closer, demon!" The Hero screamed as Aaron extended his arms. "I'm not going to fight you anymore. Doing that isn't convincing you of anything, so I'm going to let you take your anger out on me. Come on, fire your attacks. I'm going to stand still and let you attack me as much as you need. Nothing will change in the end." Aaron stated, his arms open wide. He stood not six feet away, unarmed and unwilling to fight any longer. The Hero looked at him with confusion before unleashing a blinding slash of light from his sword. There was something in that sword, but Aaron couldn't tell what.
The beam of light hit him, forcing him to close his eyes, and for a second, he thought nothing had happened, but when he opened his eyes and touched his forehead, he felt an opening. His body had been very slightly split in two. The Hero laughed at him in his own vision of victory. He thought he had won. "This is what happens to monsters! You got complacent, and you thought that trying to show peace would make me ignore everything your kind has done in the past!" He yelled, as Aaron just began to slowly laugh, slowly getting louder. "Wh..what?! You should have been killed by that! I split your skull in half! You may not have a brain, but your monster core is in your head! That's how skeletons work! Your core should have been split in half!" He screamed, pointing at Aaron's head.
"Didn't I tell you?" Aaron sighed, putting his hands on the sides of his head and pushing his split halves together. "I told you I wouldn't die. Plus, I don't have a core. Remember, I was summoned. I can live off my own mana since the ones who brought me here have died, Yuusha!" Aaron yelled as he smiled, fusing his head back together, his body returning to normal. "I won't die, and here's the fun part. As long as I don't WANT to die, I won't! The only way I'll die is if I wish for myself to die, so try as much as you want. I will always regenerate!" Aaron boasted as the Hero looked at him in disbelief. "You'll run out of mana before that ever happens! All I have to do is hit you enough till your mana runs dry!" He exclaimed, rushing towards Aaron with his sword in hand, preparing to land a swing on him. "Let me tell you something. Here's the thing. Nobody can tell how much mana I have. Almost like it is infinite. How do you feel, fighting against an enemy which will only die when IT wants to die, huh?" Aaron yelled out, watching as a look of horror appeared on the Hero's face. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His sword was right above Aaron's head, but he was frozen in place with a realisation of the situation. He was fighting against an unkillable monster. The levels of danger were almost unheard of. He couldn't win, for Aaron would just revive or fuse himself back together. Whatever terminology you wanted to use that resulted in him continuing to live.
"No...no...that can't be true! No monster should be able to live forever! Everything has to die at some point!" The Hero whispered to himself, realising what was going on in his own head. He knew he couldn't win. His sword dropped to the ground, sticking into the ground like a spear. The Hero sunk to the dirt, his eyes blank. He knew he SHOULD have been able to kill them, but if the Hero couldn't kill a monster that apparently wasn't the Demon Lord, what kind of hope did he have of killing the ACTUAL Demon Lord?
"Hope. Such a fragile thing. All it takes is a single realisation..."
"And it breaks."
