Seals. A natural inhibitor of power. Everyone has one, yet most people don't even know about what level of power they have. It is almost saddening seeing people not know about their true potential. Researchers had spent many days and nights trying to figure out the purpose of seals until they realised that seals were not just inhibitors. They were the things that kept people sane. It stopped them from rioting or going crazy. Too much power is a bad thing, and most people can't even tell whether they have enough or not.
Strength is both a blessing and a curse. Without seals to stop people from going beyond what they should be, everything would fall into chaos. That is when the art of seal removal was found. A universal flaw that allowed beings to go many hundreds of times beyond what they were designed to be. They would be forced into these monstrous forms, with their only desire being further power gain. It breaks the minds of people who are subject to such torture.
Monument was one such subject. His body was forced to transform to the intense power gain he was forced into by his parents. His body became rocky as his height shot up exponentially. He wasn't able to control his power and had gone insane for some time. He was the first to be transformed, but he was also the only one to become peaceful after gaining power. The other guardians were violent, angry creatures who only lived for war and death. They enjoyed seeing the fall of people, while they never truly placed themselves in danger. A failure to use their power. It was sad knowing that they had power, yet they somewhat consciously decided to not use it.
Monument had regained his consciousness by sheer force of will. In the mind of a broken seal, everything is dark except for a light that keeps getting further and further away. Monument pursued the brightness and finally escaped, although the same couldn't be said for the others. The others let themselves wallow in the darkness of their minds, and they became hungry for war. No sane group of monsters would instigate violence every 25 years.
Well, most monsters are not sane in the first place, so I guess it's understandable.
However, they most surely have some shred of humanity left in them, right? Well, you'd be correct. They have some shred of humanity left in their souls. It is for this shred of personality that the other guardians don't go at each other's throats for every second of the day. They barely hang onto what mortality they have left, as even the monster inside them knows that if it lets it go, they won't get it back.
Aaron looked at Monument with eyes of curiosity, staring deep into his soul. He wished to see Monument's memories and what soul he had. His soul was laid out like this:
{Soul of [Monument]}
{Made Of:}
{Human Soul: 80%}
{Humanitarian Reasoning: 15%}
{Monster Soul: 4.9%}
And there was one curious little detail.
{Monster: 0.1%}
"So, you've suppressed your monstrous urges? People say it isn't good to hold in your feelings, but I think it's good in this scenario."Aaron commented, confusing Monument. What was he doing?" Aaron, would you mind explaining what you mean by 'It's a good thing in this scenario'? I am curious as to what makes you say that." Monument asked, interested in any information Aaron might possess.
"Well, if we take a look here, your soul is made up of mostly a human soul, along with its reasoning, taking up 95% of your soul. Then your monstrous instincts take up the other five percent, so I'm just impressed at how you did it. If the way you've described transformation from seal-breaking is correct, then that would mean you had to go through a lot of effort to get to this stage." Aaron replied, giving a reasonable response to Monument's question, leaving him amazed. He didn't expect such a decent answer. Was it prejudice? Maybe. He just didn't expect it.
"Well, it did take me a very long time to get to where I am, so I'm happy with how I turned out. I only wish that the other guardians would follow suit." Monument admitted while sighing. "It genuinely saddens me to see them reduced to such a state. All of the lesser guardians are victims of this, just on a much lesser scale. The only reason the air guardians don't attack is that they have achieved inner peace, allowing them to take out all their rage in one's head without disturbing anything. If you break the peace, they will not stop until you and your entire bloodline are dead. They are savages when outside of their peaceful state."
"So, you're telling me that if I went over to the Air Guardian's Lair and smacked him, he'd send all of his followers after me?" Aaron asked with a smile on his now human face. Monument simply responded with, "Absolutely. You would be hunted."
"Well then, it seems like we should leave that place for last, just in case we anger anybody while we fight." Aaron resolved, making his decision by himself. Monument was proud of him for the sole reason that he decided not to be an idiot.
"Well, that's the smart idea, Aaron, but remember, you're going to have to fight them eventually. If you don't fight them now, you'll still have to fight them later, but it is wise to fight them later, as then you will have properly fought a major guardian." Monument replied proudly, which Aaron smirked at. Facial expressions were incredible. "You know, I never doubted your intelligence, Monument, but I never thought to account for your planning!" Aaron exclaimed with a proud smile on his face. "You know, it's strange being a human again, after being a skeleton or some being made of corruption. Having my old body back...
"It's like a dream come true."
I wrote this earlier on while in school. I shoved it through Grammarly and had 23 premium suggestions lmfao.
